Welcome to the forum. Lots of nice folks here.

I will attempt to make sense of this. First let me say if you will just take your visa to AEK when immigration is in and tell them to explain it to you, they will and better then any advice you can get here. That is what I did and they were very nice about it. I did this about two weeks after I arrived so if I needed to do something I had planty of time to gather whatever they might request. Not a last minute thing.

Now for the "O" visa. I have one of these but it is for multipul entries and one year. If yours is the same, all you will have to do is leave the country and come back in and they will renew it. You will not need any documentation, bank books or any of the other stuff. However if you only got a single entry visa, you will have to ask someone else (as stated above, ask Immigrations, they are the one that matters) If you are going to change it to a retirement visa, I do not know the ropes.

I would suggest read paragraph 2 several times and figure what to do.

It depends on the type of Non-imm visa you have - ie. what is it based on? Marrigae to a Thai or business, or visiting friends etc etc etc
It also depends if you want to stay here long term or not (for a year at a time) - in which case you can extend it after you have been here 60 days for up to one year (providing you qualify) and then you will never have to leave the country every 3 months - just notify your address every 3 months at the immigration office.
More information from you will mean we can answer more :)

Thanks for the quick response guys.

1 - When i applied for my visa in the UK i siad it was for visiting friends and gave the address in thailand.

2 - I have a bank account in LOS with the Bangkok Bank with approx 2 Million transfered from my UK account.

3 - I would like to extend it for a year if possible to save on the visa runs but i'm not of retiring age yet.

4 - I have been here for just over a month already and am coming to Udon Thani between the 16 & 30 of this month.

The renewal/extension of my visa will hopefully be a short term thing until i decide what i'm going to do stay and work or just relax for a while and return to the UK.

My future intentions are to buy and run a small business in the Udon Thani region nothing special just enough to make a living, I am looking at either buying an ongoing concern or starting a fresh, i am a IT Engineer with 20 yrs experience and am also a qualified electrical & mechanical engineer so will be looking to carry on in my field of expertise. Internet Cafe with an inhouse PC Repair entre or something along those lines.

Any comments will be greately apreciated
