30 DAY EXT.

PostAuthor: papaguido » March 27, 2007, 6:38 pm

Just wanted to relate my recent experience at Immigration. I arrived here on a 90 day single entry tourist visa. My 60 days is up tomorrow, so I went to Nong Khai Imm. to extend another 30 days. My experience there was quick and efficient. I found the Imm officer to be curtious and very helpful. There were 3 other customers when I arrived and as I was looking for a queue number an Imm officer called me over and asked what I needed. I told him I was applying for a 30 day ext. He asked why I was extending and I told him to spend more time with my family. My wife and daugther were present and he briefly spoke with my wife. Then he asked if I had my daugther's birth certificate and house book. I did, orginal and copies and also copies of my passport. With that the officer asked me if I prefered to have 60 days instead of 30. Hell yeah. Anyway, in & out in about 30 min a good experience and an additional 60 days. I never expected to get 60 days, I guess it's at the descretion of each office or officer. But fortunately I brought along proper documentation and copies.

I think coming out of the immigration office with whatever I go in there for is just the greatest feeling. But getting more than you bargained for... WOW. You must be happy.

Absolutely Mainer, especially after reading about others misfortunes, misinterpitations, counterdictions, hearsay, etc, etc. I went in expecting the worst and was suprised with the outcome. Thanks to Ray23's recommendation on another thread. I brought documentation (birth certificates, passports, house registration, wife & kid) and plenty of copies.

...and thanks Stan,

Rito
