30 day visa limit????

PostAuthor: jamesandpookie » July 10, 2006, 7:12 pm

Has anyone heard of the '30 day visa limit' rumor? I heard that you're only allowed 6 30 day visa-on-arrivals in a row? If you cross the bridge regularly and exceed six crossings, they apparently have the right to stamp no further stay in your passport. I believe you then have to leave the country for 6 months before you can enter again.

Maybe it's just a rumor, or could it be fact? Anyone know any different?

I'm a little worried. :?

No. As far as I know, this is not true (or not applied). Because of some delay on the construction of my house in Thailand, I have had to do the visa-on-arrival trip (at the Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge) more than 6 times in a row in 2003, and I never have had any problem at the border.

Your situation is the very reason I waited till qualified for a different visa before coming here to live. History had shown that it wasn't going to be a problem, but things do change. Why not call or have your sweety call immigration and see what they have to say. You may or may not get a staright answer but it's worth a try.

Hopefully thier information would be more accurate then any of us could give you.

Had I had as much courage as you have I would have been able to come and stay here much sooner and time has shown that it was not a problem.

I wish you luck.

There is a guy who goes to the Aussie Pub, who may be able to help "legally" if you need more than 30 days, he has relatives in the Immigration Dept that help things run smoother.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

Hi D&C, can your friend help with O or B Visas, or do I need to leave the country for these?

I am thinking of setting up a business and would like to get a B visa before applying for a work visa.

A friend of mine transferred from a tourist visa to a B visa whilst in Thailand, but he has connections in Pattaya.

I will stick to crossing the bridge for now, but I will need a more permanent visa when my partner and I set up business.

I just can not picture some Thai official counting the number of entries in your passport. Think a little difficult and time consuming. A while back met someone from KhonKaen who had a business and was on a 30 days tourist run, had to spend the night. Met someone on a run to Mukdahan - Savannakhet, he got a 60 day tourist visa the same day, cost 2000 baht!
I would recomend the trip to Mukdahan - Savannakhet, Mukdahan is a nice, clean small town with friendly people, even the Thai officials at the boarder were friendly and helpful! Either way good luck! 8)

Oh, after reading another topic, ck'd my records and the above 2,000 baht was what I paid for a 90 day visa. So the price above for 60 days is 1,000 baht. Why do I remember, cause it kind-of-ticked-me-off, that I paid 1,000 baht for an extra 30 days. This was back in April, end of month, of yes this year. Not sure where the numbers come from on the other topic. Maybe each embassy has there own price system.
