60 Day Tourist Visa Extension (New Rules)

PostAuthor: lee » October 15, 2007, 2:05 pm

I've just been informed by a guy returning from the Nong Khai immigration today that there have been some changes to the 60 day tourist visa extension.

Visitors entering Thailand on 60 day tourist visa's are now allowed only 1 30 day extension during their stay, then any 60 days tourist visas prior to the initial one are only granted 7 day extensions, however the same price still applies.

I am on a triple-entry 60-day tourist visa and last time I was refused a 30 day extension at Nong Khai imm. He only offered 7 days.

Why even apply for an extension when you can just cross the brige and get the 30 day entry?

True, but you're only allowed 3 x 30 day voa entries within 180 days, therefore if you do it this way you will be booted out of the country for 90 days.

My current 6-month visa will expire in mid-December so I wanted at least one extension but couldn't get it. Anybody know if the leave for 90 day rule applies to a paid in advance tourist visa as opposed to a VOA?

I think you get 3 30 day entry visas or 90 days total before you have to leave. He is on a tourist visa ,which doesn't count for the 90 days!
