  I think this question might be unanswerable by an expat, especially non-Asians :? Although I believe that anyone in that position, would find themselves in a position to be ''milked'' for considerable sums of money! :yikes:

One must assume an expired Passport! If they are caught it's the detention centre in BKK then deportation and a possible black stamp. If passport is OK he or she neads to head to Swampyvoom and get a flight out, the fine is 20000 Baht, a red stamp in the back of the passport and free to return whenever.

If they back date it at today's rate (9yrs or 3285 days at 500 Baht a day), that would be 1,642,500 Baht for nine years, still beats the current system and good value for money. :-$

Stamp in the passport... No problem, apply for a new one when back home and you are refreshed. In the UK you could even change your name by deed poll, apply for the new passport and once returned to the country of your choice you are reborn. ;)

Assuming it was a legitimate question, the first problem to arise as was already suggested is if your
passport has expired. Then you will have to take your new passport to Suan Phlu to get the entry
stamp replaced. It is not possible to proceed directly to the airport. It's been said with a lengthy
overstay they (immigration) will also want to check and make sure there are no outstanding warrants
in the passport holder's name (understandable). Might have waited just a wee bit too long for the
run to the airport and pay the quick fine and get the little xxx red overstay stamp.

Conditions of wearing the 'red badge of courage' or the 'personna non grata' award for services to the immigration bank balance dept. You should:

To be personna non grata in Thailand is very serious case—i.e., your name is recorded in a secret ‘Confidential List’, popularly known as the ‘black list’; and you will be banned from entering Thailand forever  .

It is extremely difficult to have your name removed from the ‘black list’.

A very interesting topic this one, lets surmise you live in a village, dont want a drivers license, if your sick use the local clinic [who dont ask for id etc.], never travel out of the area, use ATM for money from sources anon. IMO you could stay here as long as it suits you. Till death you depart. Cumm'on tell me i talk a load of sh*te?
