i refuse to get my hair cut by a man

especially as there are so many cute girls cutting hair in thailand!!!

better for the married or attached guys as you have a legit reason to

speak to, be touched by another woman

and for singles a way to meet non bgs

no reason at all in my mind to let a man touch my head when a pretty girl can :fryingpan:

who cares what the cut is like....

Errrrrr... I do or at least did. Well actually I still do as it is a khatoey. Last time I had my hair cut by a girl I think she cut it with a knife and fork. I ended up looking like Joan of Arc. That was in Khon Kaen... Then I was told of a good barber so for the first time in my life I had to have my hair repaired.

2 men can put their hands on my head... My khatoey barber or a doctor.

He speaks very little English if any but will go out of his way to please. Beings how he went out of his way to please, he always ended up with 100B. There is also a lady that will do your lady friends hair. Wife said she did Ok.

After days of the princess pleading with me to get my hair cut I relented today however my usual khatoey had a day off so went to this place. Opposite Boss photo studio and Mitsubishi right?

Spoke enough English and was very polite, "Sit down please, is the style okay for you?" Nice tidy up, shaved my neck and all for only 45 Baht. Recommended!

Funny, my hair was overdue for a cut and I was in Kumpawapi yesterday afternoon visiting a friend.
Heading home around 17h I stopped on the main road and asked where the nearest "ran tat phom" was, just a few doors further. It was the small dirty usual Thai shop.

Last time I had a hair cut at my usual luxury saloon near the Udon railway station, near the traffic light opposite the night market, they increased their price from 150B to 200B :(

I saw the man's prices on the wall from 25 to 40B, a kid just got out, I did not have to wait.
I think he made me this military style, very short (too short to my liking) in the neck, but luckily he left some hair on top of my head...I thanked him but he said something like "not finished". He went on to shave me (that did hurt a bit), massage neck and sholders, clean my face, oil, smear perfume and some more.

When asked how much? The man said 40B!!!
Paid him 50B but will not go back... :-#

if they sleep with men I agree some how lady boys do great hair work I guess it all that pain they go through every morning trying to look like a stunning female which gives them the experience and patience to do good work

Found a great barber on Nongsamrong Road.

Head up toward the golf course. Instead of turning left to the golf course, veer slightly to the right before making the big right turn, and you can't miss it. On the left hand side.

Wash and a cut for 80 baht. Good job. I'll be back.

Owner is married to a Brit.

Plenty of the cheap and nasty variety in Ban Dung.

Had a cut in a proper salon in Pattaya last week - expensive and nasty.

By far the best haircut I have had locally was a couple of months ago in Sawang Daen Din. If anyone wants the details, PM me.

I must admit I do miss the haircut with extras I could get in my (single) days in Peking :-"

Barber shops are nasty no matter what they charge- who wants to be operated on with that dirty equipment? And don't tell me they sterilize anything between customers. Best to buy a good electric clippers and have your wife/girlfriend do the job for you (haircut that is) once a month, out back under the mango tree. Just snap in the right spacer plate and then its twice all over lightly. No muss, no fuss, wash and wear. My wife tells me Thursdays are "no good" for cutting hair.

After my experience in Pattaya I have misgivings recommending barbers to fellow-falangs.
I used to go to a barber shop in a side street of Soi Buakaow with predominantly Thai customers, where they charged B60 for a hair-cut.

He gave a decent cut and in the course of time, more and more falangs started using his services. While I was waiting my turn I frequently saw these guys paying for the cut with B100 notes, telling the barber to keep the change. I always wondered if they also gave their barbers in Falang Land nearly 70% tips. #-o

The last time I was in Patts I went to this barber again and guess what? He had raised his price to B100!

Very decent 70 baht haircut by male barber in small shop on same road as Ton Koon Hotel, opposite side and past Thai Airways office toward Prajak Road. He has decades experience.

Had a bad cut in the big shop near Karin Hotel, probably luck of the draw as the impressive row of barbers in their colored coats is a sight to be seen, worth showing tourists.

Yep, tried that one yesterday after I used to go to the luxury outlet opposite the night market near the railway station.
Used to pay 150B for shampoo and hair cut, last time they increased the price to 200B, so they lost a customer.

The AEK guy Thai menu shows 45B for a cut but he asked 50B, some mark up for farangs!
