A Thai Passport for my GF

PostAuthor: Pilotman » August 3, 2006, 5:19 pm

Guys, a bit of advice please and a few Udon questions. I need to arrange a passport for my Udon based GF. Not a problem say you, she can go to BKK and get one, trouble is this is a major expedition for her and she is too apprehensive to go alone, or with family, and she is not a well travelled girl. I am not available to sort it out in the time scale needed. Question: does she have to go all the way to BKK to get a passport or can it be done locally as in Chang Mai? Do you know of any agencies in Udon that can arrange it for her?

By the way, first trip to Udon 4 weeks ago and I was impressed. Liked the place a lot. I am an old LOS hand, but just never made it to that part of the country.

Thanks in advance.

she can get it done in KhonKaen. Cheap bus ride or take the train! Then it will be mailed to her in a week or two.

Totally agree, khon kaen is the way forward, it is a quick and very simple process, renewed one for gf and got a new one for our daughter in about 30 minutes.

does KK now issue passports? in the past they just filled out paperwork and fowarded to bkk office. but now computerized, as bkk is couple hr for passport where before it took couple days.

kk still only do the paperwork and send it to bkk, then they post the passport back to your home address, however renewals or name changes to thai passports can be done at kk on the day. It is all quite painless.

I would worry about actually receiving them.I have had several mailings that have never arrived! Our's are due for renewal next year and unless things change in KK,We will wait for a trip to Bangkok!

Renewals are done while you wait at KK, maybe a couple of hours. I have recently helped a couple of ladies to get their first ever passport, took about 2/3 hours then posted to home within 7 days no problem. Not sure whether they were sent to BK but envelope was from KK.

No offence but

If your GF cant make it down the road to KK even with family I dont see much point in getting her a passport yet.

She sounds like the type of girl who will be asking the stewardess "where does the plane stop for somtam?

Do the travel test first

TC 8)

There again if she has never left Udon before I would understand her being apprehensive

I never said she couldn't make KK, or BKK for that matter, she just finds it all a bit trying and needs a bit of guidance.

KK issues Thai passports no problem, mail out within 7 days. Passport photos are not required as they take a digital photo there. The cost is 1000 baht plus 35 baht for postage?????

Hello guys! As I understand you can go to Khon Kaen or Bangkok to make a passport for a Thai person. But my following question is: Which paper does the person need to have with him/her when go and make a passport?
