Oops, I nearly posted on the wrong thread. Please be aware this is a sponsor's thread, so please don't recommend alternative establishments here. :D

I've re-posted my experience on the "Have you adjusted your budget" topic.

The no 1 Stylist at A1 Salon has trained internationaly and travels OS for ongoing training and product assistance etc

The Salon down the road in the Sois, has the basic beauty shop training course.

No comparison in my thinking.

Its a bit like the cheap beer argument IMO, yes u can get it cheaper, and still be happy with the outcome.

The real issue here and with many other service industries right now, is the world economic crisis and how people are cutting back on their consumer spending, reviewing what they need and what they can afford.

350 baht isnt that much, but when currencies devalue against the baht like the GBP, AUD and others, then wise expenditure is called for when budgets are important.

Its not the service that makes people change their habits, its the cost.

Initially told to have shampoo. I explained that I'd washed my hair 1 hour ago, so we by-passed that bit.
Hair was cut by a very attractive young lady, who on the whole did a good job apart from wanting to give me a Bobby Charlton. I know I haven't got much on top, but I don't see the point of trying to hide the fact by having a parting just above the ear and sweeping what hair I have got over the bald bit.
After haircut went for shampoo and short head massage which took 10 minutes tops.
Returned to chair for blow-dry, which resulted in a compromise of where parting went. I'd given up trying to show her where the parting was when I came into the salon.
Bill was 350Baht.
With the value of the GBP you can make your own minds up if I will be going back.

Just asked the wife. Max 50bht in her salon. Mind you she doesn't have to pay the high rent this salon does in Big C.
so how much rent do you charge her ?
