Accupunture

PostAuthor: ThaiTrader » June 27, 2008, 9:50 am

My wife has trouble sleeping and it is causing her all kinds of health problems. We have exhausted all the traditional methods of treatment and are now considering alternative medicines. I am posting to the forum with the hope that someone may know of an acupuncturist/Chinese herbalist or possibly suggest some other form of treatment. We live in Khon Kaen!

Yes, there is a lady that practices acupuncture here in Udon. She is at the Udon Hosp. during week day mornings and is at Paulo Hosp. on Sat. She also has her own clinic in town, across from the police station - not exactly sure where, and she treats patients there in the PM and evenings.

I went to see her at Udon Hosp, Physical Therapy section. I used that facility because it is free for me. The hosp has several beds - 10 or 15 - and it was crowded when I went. I had to wait for about an hour before treatment. I was having back problems, lumbar area, and she 'fixed me up' with a single visit. I'm told by a friend who has visited her clinic that there was no wait there and she did him right as well.

Be prepared, it is NOT painless but I'm glad I went and would go again.

Ask around in Khon Kean for a Chinese herbal shop. Most of the shops have a practitioner who can diagnose and treat health problems. The herbal teas are usually very bitter, but in my situation, and my wife's, they have been effective.

The guy I go to here was trained by a man from Khon Kean.

There is an acupuncture clinic on Prajak in NK!
While driving by today,I decided to explore a little and went in to check them out!

The Chinese lady I talked to had a MS from U.of Illinois and her English was quite good,so she explained the program in general and the costs involved for the various types of treatments.
They practice acupuncture with herbal injections and nueral therapy.

They do QRS therapy(Quantam Resonance System)which is designed to restore cells to a healthy state by moving ions magnetically through the cell membrane! They call this ''German technique''!

The doctor, from Bangkok, that setup the clinic was there and was leaving for Bangkok at noon,The lady I was talking to asked if I would like to ''talk'' with him,so I did ,thinking that he would be able to answer some questions as I thought them up.

He held my wrists with 2 fingers, almost like taking a pulse, while asking about my physical problems.Asked me how old I was,and said ''really?Your insides ,organs and such are in good shape and you don't look or ''feel'' 70(salesman??? )

I started telling him about my lifelong back problems,he directed me to a bed and told me to lie face down, which I did, thinking he might be checking my vertebraes!

Next thing I know he is putting needles in up and my back and legs which were irritating pricks but not exactly painful.I could feel the injection going into my body which were not uncomfortable!

When he finished,he said lay still for 15 minutes. My big toe was bothering me and I moved my leg and body slightly to get more comfort and felt some bulging tupe cramps or nots in my back and legs,so I forgot that move and just layed there.(thinking I felt like I walked into a car dealership to lookylook and bought the car  )

A pretty lady attendant was there to do whatever. It felt like she was twisting the needles(probably the ''cupping'' that was on my bill) and/or possibly doing more herbal injections, the alcohol wipes as she removed the needles.I could feel some cleanup of blood on one lower leg and I was right!

Then I was given two cups of water to drink and told to lay down on another bed with a machine plugged into the wall socket. This was the QRS therapy for 8 minutes(100 baht,16 min is 150 and 24 min. is 250).This had no feeling at all.Afterwards,2 more cups of water.

Then to another room where hot liquid from a long tube of MOXA was applied to my lower back to ''improve chi''(I think this was the nueral therapy, forgot to ask  ).I am supposed to apply this everyday for 10 minutes,so the wife observed and was instructed!

The bill was 800 baht plus 100 baht for 2 MOXA rolls to go

Asked if i was feeling better after the treatment,my response was I was feeling OK when I came in and I could not tell the difference!

She assured me that if i came once a week continiously,I would feel alot younger than my seventy years!

I smiled ,paid the bill and started thinking hmmm,I will mull this around a little!

So I had stainless needle acpuncture 200 baht(gold needle is 400 baht),QRS 100B,herbal injections 200B,cupping 100B and nueral therapy 200B plus 2 MOXA sticks 50B each=900 B

Not bad for a lookylook

Paka,do you know what her fees are and what did she actually do that releived your back problem?

Since there are no chiropractors outside of Bangkok,my reason for checking out the clinic this morning was hopefully finding an alternative if I happen to have a sublaxation !

Stan, could you post or PM the clinics contact details. Thanks :D .

I uses to receive regular acupuncture treatments in Hawaii for years. I believe it helped me with a number of different issues.

The clinic is on Prajak about a block past the 7-11 on the same side of the street about 3 blocks from the bus depot. There is a sidewalk sign advertising acupuncture,I don't know the name.Tel.086-068-4848.

Hope this is sufficient! If not I will get more details and post again.

There is a acupuncture doctor in the city i am using at the monent for a frozen shoulder.
Dr. TENGUI NGAMPRAPAKORN 152 /8 Jamsiri Market Watana Road Tel 042-246155
He does not speak any English, but seems to know his job
He uses needles then attaches electric current to the needles, im on my 3rd. visit today and go every 2 days. He told me i would need 10 visits to cure due to the fact i left it for 6 months before i could not stand the pain anymore.
He puts about 10 needles in for about 20 minutes then 5-6 injections into the area, I dont know whats in the injection but its red and looks like vimto.
On both of my visits I have seen falangs there and they he is good.
The price is 800 baht per visit.
Not easy to find but going from the complex towards the Karin hotel on your right, pass the Karin then take 2nd left and its at the end of the small square.

good luck.
