Additional Admendments For Applying At Immigration

PostAuthor: papaguido » September 3, 2007, 7:29 am

Here's some more news posted by Sunbelt Asia Group:

Apply at your own Immigration Province Office:

After OCT 1. Applicants living in other provinces will NOT be able to apply through the immigration in Bangkok (they must apply locally).

Example: You don't like how your local immigration office interprets the laws so you having been going to another province such as Bangkok. Now you can no longer use that option. You must go to the local office after Oct 1st.

Marriage Visa amendment:

If you are applying on the basis of having 40,000 salary inside Thailand (with WP) you must also provide a location map of the company and photos of the company.

Possible Amendments:

They are re-considering the criteria for applicants supporting a Thai child and may allow a foreign parent UNDER 50 to apply. Not confirmed.

A new immigration order is expected to be released next week outlining these (and possibly other) changes.

And the screw continues to turn tighter still.

It used to be sufficient to show to the Labout department a map of your company/workplace and/or photographs of it.
It was one of the requirements to obtain a work permit.

Now immigration are getting involved in the work side of things - and who knows what additional forms and documents Senior Sergeant Jobsworth is going to ask for in addition to whats already publicised.

I heard the phrase 'Ethnic Cleansing' on another forum.
Isn't that where you get rid of a certain group of people who you don't want in your country? (ie - Resident Farangs )

A bit of a harsh phrase but makes one wonder !

The possible amendment was put in place because of the abuse of the system and increase levels of thai/farang babies?
Personally I think they should target the longterm sex tourists more who have just moved from 30 day revolvers to mixing it with tourist visas in order to get through the whole year without going back home.if farang hate that phrase then if they are retired get on a bloody retirement visa.
Still alot of cleaning up to do,get the farang properly on work visas and off tourist visas, better to follow the rules than to disregard them in this climate of continued change here in LOS.

This sucks. From what I understand, the interpretation of immigration laws varies from province to province.

Stan is in one of those enviable positions by having the choice, condo in Bangkok allowing him to go to Bangkok immigration.
Just hoping the almighty one in NongKhai retires soon so it will be a pleasanter place to visit.

we could all get leases from Stan, and say we live in bkk.

this one bugs me, as i am guessing my bank paperwork won't be appoved this time and was planning on renewing or starting over in bkk, but i guess that is not an option now. hmm, maybe tourist visa and 30 days around the corner for me.

Not all provinces have immigration offices. This could be a problem for some.

Yep guys the more I se of this the more I want to try to get the P.R.

But a 196 issued in a year, it's not looking real good. The other thing that seems to be popping up is the tax reciepts. That would mean if your on a annual not married to a Thai visa that you probably can't work therefore no tax receipts.

Supposedly if you have four years in country and are supporting a Thai doesn't say it has to me a marriage visa, you qaulify.

But reality is probably somehting very different usually is . Under the current atmosphire I think it would be a huge waste of time and 7K. But this i Thailand and things may be much better for a try then or maybe worse who knows :

It's just a matter of time... If a police officer wants to advance, he must accept a transfer to a new location every few years (in addition to tea money for a promotion).

Question is, how much longer...?

Hhhmmm ... all of this change doesn't seem to bode well. I guess all we can do is sit tight and wait to see what comes out.

My guess and just that no more I think this is a product of the current political climate. I also thnk that it will cahnge with a new governement right now soldiers are running this country. They seem to be doing things in a military manner, which is what they know. Profressional businessmen and politicians will probably take a softer approach.

Time will tell.

Someone on here or another forum brought up an interesting idea, it seem under the new constitution that a Thai, some of us are married Thai's can challenge these laws and bring ammendments before the government. So it probably could be done legally. For the time being my attitude is wait and see.

Well,it is inconvenient and it will probably continue, but I am sure most of us will find the ways to roll with it until there is no advantages left in staying here.I think I will make it to the grave  :lol:It is like all the other things needed to live here! You process it,accept it and learn hoe\w to deal with it until it looses its value to you!One of the advantages to not wearing the ''rose tinted''glasses!Of course you miss some of that ''ignorant bliss''available for a time! =D>
