my wife is 9 years younger than me and she says that she was looking for an older man because they are more mature, less likely to stray and financially more secure than younger men.She also says that she was looking for a marriage partner...not "just for fun" (don't know how to feel about that one in all honesty...)
We have only been married for 7 months now but already I feel that this is a far more loving and stable relationship than any I have ever been in before in Blighty.
Events may yet surprise me and it could all end in tears..I am after all working overseas and only get to visit a couple of times a year...so I may be suffering from the old adage...absence makes the heart grow fonder.
Or could it be simply...ignorance is bliss... :)

I doubt it. Much too literate and he is using capital letters where needed. - Welcome Mr Peliken.
Yep. 20+ but the ratio narrows every year and there has been >5 of them. :P

Hello all, and thanks for all the welcomes. Terribly sorry to disappoint the nay-sayers, but I do not know who Mr Nicey is, I am just a green-faced newbie.
And as some have guessed, I set the poll just out of curiosity.
If there is any ulterior motive, it comes from contacts I am getting on an Introduction website that I am a member of. Being 40ish, it is somewhat surprising to me to be getting a LOT of attention from 19-26 year olds. I am not an ageist person, but in the country I come from, guys get treated like some sort of cradle-snatching paedophiles if they desire a woman even 5 years younger than themselves. But as the poll results show, it is possible that most age differences can be successful.
Anyway, thanks all for voting, I hope there are more who will join in. :)

Well by now Mr. Nicey usually would striked so I will venture fourth.

My wife is 27 years younger then me 31 and I'm 58. she and I just fit very similar personalities. In my first year here I dated women in thier 20's it was fun, but they were into partying a lot more then I am. Most of them were really nice girls who wanted a better life then they had, can't say is blame them but they just didn't fit my persona.

Most of the guys I saw hooked up with 40 + seemed to be into not only setting up houes for themselves, but the ladies kids a well. They seemed to be under the hammer for money all the time. Now keep in mind that this is only what I was seeing, I'm sure things are very different for most.

From day one my wife always seemed content with what we had, it was me who was pushing to make things better. She handles the household budget, just better at then I am.

So perhaps why it worked was my immaturity and her maturity.

Did money have anything to do with damn well bet'cha billy bob. It has long passed developed past that. she essentially has no family, nor do I. In comparison to where she was when we got together financially she is in a much better position, but she was patient and let me do what I needed to do to give her that. Today I would do anything I can to give her a good future and better life. I love her , trust her and she is my best friend.

Now if that had anything to do with age I would be very surprised, we just fit together.

unfortunitely, multiple answers, so no vote. in the states, the wifes and girlfriends were anywhere from 5-15 yrs younger, as i got older, the gap got wider. first wife 19/25 2nd was i think 6 or 7 yrs younger, live in gf after that were 10 or so younger, 2 long term live ins. those 4 counted for almost 20 yrs.

now to thailand, wife was 23/24 yrs younger, 22/45 yrs old at marriage, depending on what time of year. next gf was 35, old gal, me 50, then 24/50, 27/50 and next one is 30 and i'm still 50, oops, 51 last week. wife for 4 yrs, 2 gals for 3 months each, new and soon to end, 2 months, next one will be a keeper, i think, not that i haven't thought that before, lol.

seems my patience aren't as long as time goes on. why waste time, not getting any younger, lol.

ahh, amore, love is in the air. premature, i think not, lol. so, my new gf is now 30, lol. after much discussion, over lunchs, we decided to inform our now ex's of lack of interest, and give this a go. life was good, now even better. so if you see me strolling around udon with an even dumber smile than usual, that explains it. now if i can only get past that damn 3 month time period. rather optomistic on this one, my heart is in it, as i believe hers is, so we shall see how things progress. the other gfs, if you asked, from the get go, i would of had to admit some doubts, although at first i thought the one was going to be a keeper, before i knew her, lol.

back to OP's original question, that would be a 21 yr gap, almost forgot i'm a year older this week.

The age conundrum

PostAuthor: Ricky » December 29, 2005, 4:01 pm

I am currently twice my GF's age, but the beauty of it is that the age gap/difference reduces each year. :D By the time I'm 90 she will only be 2/3rds my age, and when I'm 120 she'll only be 3/4 my age, and so on. I haven't yet calculated when we'll be the same age!!

Robinsons of course, where did they party, Mambos. Mr. Tongs, just pick a disco.

Actually most were met through friends, thier girlfriends ect. It ain't hard and you don't need to go to bars at all. Or at least it wasn't before Udon has really changed a lot from the days I was out playing so I wouldn't have a clue these days. Meeting girl just doing the normal things you do during a day, then was easy. There was not as many of us around back in those days. The hard part was I didn't speak Thai that made it very difficult. Sometimes I would just get a phone number and have a Thai friend call them and put things together. Where there is a will there is a way.

Another way was the big bike trips Thai people were really attracted by the big bikes then, you see a lot more around today. Actually had a few wanting to join us on the rides everytime that happened I had a girl with me, as luck would have it.

If they can speak any english they would always want to practise with you.

I don't know I just walked around with a smile and dumb look ( natural) on my face and things just seemed to work out. I always thought that just having ATM tatooed on my forehead would have been perfect, as that is how it normally worked out anyway. Hence Three Day Ray. But they were a fun three days 8)
