[html]<p><strong>Phon Charoen</strong> (Thai: <span xml:lang="th" lang="th">พรเจริญ</span>) is a district (<em>Amphoe</em>) of Nong Khai Province, northeastern Thailand.</p>
<h2><span id="History">History</span></h2>
<p>The minor district (<em>King Amphoe</em>) Phon Charoen was established on November 16 1976 by splitting two <em>tambon</em> from Bueng Kan district.[1] It was upgraded to a full district on July 13 1981.[2]</p>
<h2><span id="Geography">Geography</span></h2>
<p>Neighboring districts are (from the west clockwise) So Phisai, Bueng Kan, Si Wilai and Seka of Nong Khai Province, and Kham Ta Kla and Ban Muang of Sakon Nakhon Province.</p>
<h2><span id="Administration">Administration</span></h2>
<p>The district is subdivided into 7 subdistricts (<em>tambon</em>), which are further subdivided into 58 villages (<em>muban</em>). There are two townships (<em>thesaban tambon</em>) - Phon Charoen covers parts of <em>tambon</em> Phon Charoen, and Don Ya Nang the whole <em>tambon</em> Don Ya Nang. There are further 6 Tambon administrative organizations (TAO).</p>
