[html]<h3>Amphur Sangkhom</h3>
<p><strong>Namtok Than Thong (น้ำตกธารทอง)</strong> is located in Ban Pha Tang, Mu 1, Tambon Pha Tang. This waterfall has its stream flowing along the rocky ground. There is a pond where visitors can swim. Tiers of small cascades line below for a distance of around 30 m before merging with the Mekong River. The time to visit when the waterfall holds plenty of water is between June and October. The surrounding area is an arboretum with a thick forest. </p>
<p><em>To get there</em> Take the Nong Khai – Si Chiang Mai – Sangkhom route (Highway 211) past Ban Chai Charoen to Ban Pha Tang (Highway 2186). At Km 74, around 11 km. before reaching the town, Than Thong Waterfall is on your right, while the car park is on the left. </p>
<p><strong>Namtok Than Thip (น้ำตกธารทิพย์)</strong> is a high and beautiful waterfall amidst a lush forest. It has three tiers. The first tier is around 30 m high and its long white body of water rushes into a pond below. The second tier of about 100 m high can be reached through a marked trail. The third tier is around 70 m high with water flowing all year round, especially in the rainy season there will be plenty of water. </p>
<p><em>To get there</em> Drive along Highway 211. At Km 97-98, follow a road sign to turn left and go on for around 2 km. (It is about 9 km from amphur Sangkhom.) From the parking area, walk another 100 m. </p>
<p><strong>Sangkhom</strong> (Thai: <span xml:lang="th" lang="th">สังคม</span>) is the westernmost district (<em>amphur</em>) of Nong Khai Province, northeastern Thailand.</p>
<h2><span id="Geography">Geography</span></h2>
Neighboring districts are (from the east clockwise) Si Chiang Mai, Pho Tak of Nong Khai Province, Na Yung of Udon Thani Province and Pak Chom of Loei Province. To the north across the Mekong river is the Laotian province Vientiane Prefecture.
<h2><span id="History">History</span></h2>
<p>Originally the are was a <em>tambon</em> of Tha Bo district, which became part of the newly established Si Chiang Mai district on August 4 1958. It was established as a minor district (<em>King amphur</em>) on March 1 1966, and upgraded to a full district on November 16 1971.<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amphoe_Sangkhom#cite_note-1"> </a>From November 14 1975 till November 14 1978 the district was under military administration as part of the <em>military operation 115</em>.</p>

<p>The district slogan is <em>Naga Fireball Festival; famous dried bananas; golden beaches.</em></p>
<h2><span id="Administration">Administration</span></h2>
<p>The district is subdivided into 5 subdistricts (<em>tambon</em>), which are further subdivided into 36 villages (<em>muban</em>). Sangkhom is a township (<em>thesaban tambon</em>) which covers parts of <em>tambon</em> Sangkhom and Kaeng Kai. There are further 5 Tambon administrative organizations (TAO).</p>
