Another case wher the farang was treated equally to the Thai

This is my second time of having personal knowledge of the actual verdicts in Thai court cases. You do your homework and in at least the two cases I know of, one in Nong Khai, one in Udon. Where the farrang got exactly what he asked for.

The last case Rayria from Nong Khai was the attorney she also assisted in my case that I won.

What made this one unusual was that a few American Farrangs decided they were going to teach the wife how to get money. Even to the extent of getting a gift of funds from a local organization, to the now exwife. I have never been able to understand that.

From the information I got it was the typical game the lady asking for pity money, ( 100K) whatever that is. When the truth finally came out the lady was left with a multi million dollar house a SUV which was sold for in excess of 300 K plus 260K in cash. What did she fight for another three million more in alimony. That her attorney thought they would walk away with. Didn't happen All the assests I mentioned had already been given to her before the hearing. She ended up with exactly what she was given in the first place and an attorney bill.

Guess this guy never met Rayrai before, the wifes lawyer told her your a Thai you have to protect the Thai, He got the standard answer I'm a lawyer my job is to protect my client.

Cudo's to Rayria for another job well done.

I will say this don't throw in the towel quickly, in serious matters. don't be afraid because you hear all these rumors about Thai courts. If you have a good case, so far the personal aspects I have seen say you will get fair treatment in the Thai courts. If you have bad case it's a bad case anywhere you are.

One of thing I have alway admired about Rayria she pulls no punches she thinks you got a loser she tells you right up front and tries to limit the losses for you. Can't ask for much then that.

Well there is obviusly a lot more details to this, but I don't want to embarrass anyone or any organiztions that felt they were doing the right thing.

So please just accept that the rumors are not always true.

agree 100%, had conversation with very good friend who just presented his case, in defense, as she was the one wanting the court to decide and equity distribution, and he was happy with the results. thai laws are basically the same as most western laws, if not better, as womans rights groups have not had a chance to influence and sway decisions, down further for my thoughts on that, i'll try to be short. equity distribution is usually 50/50 for thai assets. get an honest judge and honest lawyer, such as above, and as mentioned, a good case presented as such should be a fair judgement. i always wonder why, when push comes to shove, some foreigners just put their tail between their legs and say, ok, i'll leave, and forfeit all they invested.

woman's right and groups fighting for a fair shake. ok, thailand could definitely use some women's rights, no doubt there. but in the western world, USA, personal experience, 2nd hand, but all dependable info, men seem to get raked over the coals. once in a while, you get a decent judge, not influenced by women's rights group mentality. my one friend was lucky enough to have one, but still got a slight raking. she got to live in house, till sold, he got to pay the mortage. he got to pay 20% gross pay per child, even though she worked part time. full time was available and offered, but she turned down. she is in nursing field, which in america, is understaffed, nursed pretty much get what they ask for. she wanted alimony on top of everything else. luckily the judge simply said, there is no reason for a 30+ yr old woman in your profession to not be able to support yourself. this is a happy story. many woman, simply say, he hit me, and i don't feel safe, and then it hits the fan for the man. i used to sympathise with the women, until i recieved 1st hand what can happen if you are in a relationship with a lieing bitch. and it was scarey, all was rectified, all false charges dropped before even entering court, luckily the DA was an intelligent person, as i didn't have a lawyer and simply talked to him before the case and he withdrew it a mere hour before scheduled hearing. along with dismissing and nullifying the arrest record, which only he could do. the ease in which that was done, amazed me. if i wans't there, i wouldn't of believed it. now i don't believe anything people tell me about relationship problems, unless i have 1st hand knowledge, because if it could of happen to me, nobody is safe.

100k for pity money, there must be a lot of inflation in Udon no wonder my friends in Thailand normally ask for 300k for pity money "sounds funny in English".

I was under the impression that you only needed a lawyer and an accountant to live in America. I hope putting a lawyer and accountant on my payroll in Udon is a lot cheaper than America.

Tawan legal, matters yes get an Attorney. No they don't cost as much as the states.

Rayria's rate in the past was 5K per day, don't know about now. But talking to her is free. And she will tell you specifically any costs onvolved adn that will not increase. Unless you read Thai fluently and understand the laws, you take real chance in not taking the one little extra step. I found that out the hard way.
