Re: Anti Virus

Kaspersky 7.0 expired earlier this year and I tried Bitdefender on trial and liked it at first but then had a problem and now I am using Avast 4.8 Professional. For the past couple of days I am having a bad feeling ad experiencing some odd little things. I find my keyboard is unresponsive at times and I have to re-type a lot. If I open a folder most text is black but some text is blue. I ran a scan but nothing reported. In the words of Quasimodo it is just a hunch that I've got.

Anybody using Avast? Having my doubts that it is up to the task... :-k :-k :-k

I used to run AVG, then read good things about Avast and tried it. It was okay, but it didn't seem to pick up as many nasties as AVG, so I dumped it and went back to AVG.

I am using Avast 4.8 free, and perfectly happy with it. It is the only program I have running in the background ie run all the time.

I previously had Bit Defender for about 6 months, but found it to be quirky, and also a resource hog.

As back-up I run the Kaspersky (free) online scan once a month. I also scan with SuperAntiSpyware and Spyware Doctor if I have any concerns

I think some of you guys must wear two condoms as well. 95% of AV products ill do the job you require, unless you go where you shouldn't. AVG Free version is fine.

IA you can only scan with Kaspersky if you are in IE.

It also warns to turn off any other AV programs while it is running.

I generally download the updates, then disconnect from the internet and shut down Avast while Kaspersky is scanning.

Cheers
