Assistance plsssssssssssssssssss

PostAuthor: wazza » March 29, 2009, 1:52 am

10 days ago i was spammed, / attacked and opened my compute whilst in UK to find i had some form of virus ? spamming activity going on via my yahoo address.

Some of you actually got the spam mail, asking you to buy some crap at an online shop etc.

It aso deleted all Yahoo contacts, but i went to the Sent section and was able to retrieve them mannualy.

Yahoo said i had opened an attachment / virus, which i didnt.

They suggested Yahoo AntiSpy , which was installed and found a few tracking cookies, but they still reappear.

Installed Spybot, it also found a few small issues and repaired,

Im running a genuine copy of XP and also daily updates on my anti virus - Avast

I installed Windows Registry Repair and that fixed approx 200 issues.

Today, upon awakening, my spam box in Yahoo was full 100 odd !!

My address book had over 600 new email addresses for France, but only I and J first initial eg J234@wanoo.fr

my In box for Yahoo was deleted ( 600 odd mails ) work related

Westerby kindly found a site that identifies the problem, but then makes u go on to pay for the repair , which im slightly reluctant to do, as there is no guarantee it will be fixed.

Anyone have any further ideas ??? Yep I can open a new yahoo as 1 example.

I'll do some more digging mate. A good friend of mine works for Microsoft in Reading so I'll ping him to see if he's seen this snag before.

or got to www.malwarebytes.com

Also, change your password, if you haven't already done it.

You can go to www.fileresearchcenter.com and see what is running on your computer.

Aa the likely reason you can't delete Uniblue is that it starts up automatically when you switch on your computer.

The first thing I would try is Ctrl-Alt-Del (Windows Task Manager), then click on Processes. Look for a file(s) name that has Uniblue in it, click on it, and then click on the End Process box in the bottom right corner.

It will come up with a warning box - just click yes.

WARNING - DO NOT CLICK ON/DELETE ANY FILE WITH "SYSTEM", "LOCAL SERVICE" "NETWORK SERVICE" ie any file that has a user name in CAPITALS in the User Name column.

Then go through the normal uninstall process, reboot, and hopefully it is gone.

Thanx for the tip jack but it did'nt work. It removed it from the box and it still does'nt show up in add or remove, like it's not on the computer at all, but all of the icons are still there and if I click on them they bring the program up  any more suggestions ??

AA I found this tip on the net...

Uniblue Registry Booster should have removed very easily thru control panel add or remove.

If you delete the Uniblue folder at C:\Program Files\Uniblue, it should be gone.

You can go to regedit and delete the registry key
Click start/ run/ type> regedit
Find HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Uniblue
Right click the Uniblue reg folder and delete.

To just stop it from loading at startup, Click start/ run/ type> msconfig
Under the Startup tab, uncheck Uniblue or Registry Booster.

Wazza what I do is wipe my hard drive clean squeaky clean and reinstall your O/S and get your self a new email address since your old one is no longer any good there may be other methods but I find mine to be your best bet and quickest because searching all over can take days if not weeks and you may never find the problem
