most expats will follow the parking rules it the Thai that will not follow the rules maybe if they had a tow truck at the end and towed every car park illegally to the pond and charged them 2k baht to get it back then they would listen

I just thought of Idea cars on one side M/B on the other and enforce the rules by towing them

I still maintain, that they should make it one way, and allow parking on either side :D

Ralph that would work if they did not break the rules but you will always have some azz hole to come up the wrong way and 99% of the time it will be a Thai driver and also it will not be a isolated
incident it will be all day affair with them they just refuse to follow the rules / including double parking / parking 1 or 2 meters from the curb / what the bar owners could & should do is hire a security company to keep order on the street / only exception should be made is for delivery trucks to the business on that particular street

not if you put a steel grate with spikes on the one end of the street, like they use in parking lots in usa. but then, that might work, and not boots on cars, thus, no income. i think it will be enforced, as most cars will be customers.

Parking, Parking, Parking issues. You all sound like a bunch of old ladies.

1) I am not too old to walk a block or two
2) I am not too fat to talk a short stroll
3) I am not too lazy to shuffle my feet down the street.
4) I am not afraid of lady boys
5) I am not afraid of the the dark
6) I am not afraid of little bad-ass thai boys
7) I am from New York city.
I grew up there. No parking. That's life. Get use to it.

well, here now, and approx 10 cars/trucks on wrong side of street. which makes the street managable, but one way, double parking would be the choice, TIT, never happen.

When I was in Vancouver last month I parked in a secure safe parking spot and it cost me $12.50 for three hours ! I'll take my chances here

Years ago I parked in Washington, D.C. and had three parking tickets for $300.00. Two were for parkig too close to the corner. I was there several hours and my guess is that another meter maid came on duty and slaped the second ticket on my car for too close to the corner. Don't remember what the other was.

The absence of parking meters and meter maids is one of very many reasons that I like Thailand.

The US also has cameras at intersections that record vehicles going through stop lights that have turned red. Expect a ticket for more than one hundred dollars for these non-dangerous events.

I went to DC back in 04 to get a visa I park my car in a metered zone loaded it up with coins and did my business and there was still plenty of time left on the meter when I left to continue my drive
to New York. I was traveling North from W P Beach FL I have found meters is the best way to go when parking you never know what those M.M. will do in unmark zones
