TJ - I own a home at BB Resort so I'm very famliar with the surroundings. They charge 18,000 THB for a one month stay in a bungalow. The pool continues to be very nice. They also provide wireless internet, but I'm not sure if it is included in the 18,000 or not.

Last time I stayed there, which was over a year ago, the wireless Internet didn't work. Ethernet cable solved the problem for about 30 minutes, then it would go down. Never could get a consistent signal in and out.

Quiet place. Accommodations are nice. Staff is friendly and helpful.

However, very far from town if you don't have your own transportation. You'll pay a lot in tuk-tuk fares, and the buses don't run very regularly on the Nong Samrong Road. I did a calculation and figured that I'd be better off paying 100 to 200 baht more per night to stay in town than to deal with the time-consuming transportation debacle from that area.

Have to agree with WBU if you stayed at BB then own transport would really be a necessity.
I have never stayed there but do visit sometimes for the pool.
Place seems very pleasant, food so-so (Personally I wouldn't go there specifically to eat, but do eat sometimes when I am there :D ), pool very good, nice tennis court (very underused).

I agree that having your own transportation would be preferred. However, it is a 5 minute walk to the main Nong Sam Rong road and the #6 bus (converted pickup) comes by every 10 minutes or so.

I also agree that the food at BB is just ok. However, a 5 minute walk and you are at the Saengkaew Restaurant - IMO one of the best places to eat in Udon. Great food (both Thai and farang), very nice hosts and not expensive. Also close by is the Englishman's Resort, which has a comfortable pub and good prices.

I'm not doubting you on this, but please tell me which day that baht bus passed every 10 minutes. Ten minutes may be their goal, but I've never seen it happen. I see a tuk-tuk every 10 minutes on Nong Samrong Road, but I've never paid less than 100 baht one way for a trip into the city.

I've waited so long for baht buses (up to a half hour) on Nong Samrong Road that I've ended up walking all the way to the Ring Road, which is quite a jaunt and would kill most overweight farangs. Once, a guy on a motrobike gave me a ride to the Ring Road for 20 baht.

There is a market about halfway on Nong Samrong and sometimes you can get lucky and find a ride there.

Whatever one does while living off of the Nong Samrong Road, they should have their own transportation or have lots of baht to pay for the rides and lots of time to wait. :D

My personal decision has been to pay more for accommodations and stay in town within walking distance of everything.

It would be if you wanted to be in town after the buses had finished when I would think the expensive transport would really occur. :D I would imagine offering 200 baht for a tuk tuk back to BB from (say) D&N would not exactly get them queuing up to run you back... :D :D
But (as I said previously) it does seem a pleasant place - as WBU says you pays your money & makes your choice.. :D :D

Yes! I forgot about that. Paid 200 baht one night to get back to Nong Samrong after going to the Night Market. It's an even more expensive proposition after 6:00 pm when buses stop running.

Thanks to the many who added their knowledge to this BB resort thread, making it a more thorough description of the pros and cons of renting the accomodations.
