Wow! For objectivity, I reckon this one:

is right up there with this one:

I have tried beer in 71 countries.
I stand by my opinion.
Since there is no objective yardstick my subjective opinion must suffice!

Good luck FB - can you please keep us informed of your hunt for the elusive Beer Lao Dark - it is indeed a good drop.

Darwinian - only 120 countries to go, in pursuit of your elusive quest for the world's best draught beer. Or perhaps your mind is already made up? Until then, your opinion remains subjective and cannot suffice - albeit you have a privileged position to report from. As above, please keep us informed as you further pursue the holy grail :guiness: :D :D

Oh Stan! What can I say? I wasn't criticising his opinion - only his objectivity. However, upon reflection, his statement is probably closer to the mark than yours :D

I have to say that my 'research' (records kept of over 2000 different beers in just over 2 years) would make me agree with Darwinian's statement, however that is only for "DRAUGHT" beers. When it comes to ALL beers, there is no doubt in my mind that there is only one nation that sits proudly at the top of the tree ......... BELGIUM. :guiness:

Main Entry: nec·tar
Pronunciation: \ˈnek-tər\
Function: noun
Etymology: Latin, from Greek nektar
Date: 1555

: the drink of the Greek and Roman gods
a beverage of fruit juice and pulp <apricot nectar>

a sweet liquid that is secreted by the nectaries of a plant and is the chief raw material of honey
— nec·tar·ous \-t(ə-)rəs\ adjective

mmmmmmmm I think this nectar stuff is getting to much positive press :-k :yikes:

Yes, I did specify draught beer.
I have to concur that Belgian bottled beer is the best stuff in bottles but I prefer the lack or gas in a good draught.
People who were brought up in less fortunate beer environments often continue to prefer the beer they were weaned on. Some of them later in life progress to enjoying better beers but many go thruugh life never having tasted a good beer. This is true of many Americans I have met. One can only offer such persons our deepest sympathy.
We are very fortunate to be living in an era when the variety and quality of beer has reached such heights,
