Best holiday location in thailand?

been to patong 6 times now last there 3 monthes ago m-c never again very expensive never got 1 min without some scrounger trying to sell me something even on the beach at patong your pestered 200-50 baht a lounger went for a snack mrs vlad paid 30 for a chicken leg the farang paid 70 baht because me farang some bars 250 bottle of singah bike hire 1000 a day ive not even mentioned the tailor mafia 1 thing i cant get me head round all the indian tailors say g'day mate want a suit mmmm im a northern pom. to many muggings now between patong and kata rd cannot ride it at night. so my advice my friend stay well away from that place.

That definatly sounds like Manao Bay near Sam Roi Yot National Park.
I've not yet been there or to a place about 60km further south called Bangsaphan (Noi) where I have been told they have great snorkelling/diving. Due to it being a smallish town there are only a few farang residents, and therefore only have a limited number of farang food outlets/bars. But hey they have two or three resurants and a couple of "beach bars" to while away the evening hours, so I might just give it a go for a few days soon.
Ban Krut Beach (north of Bangsapan noi) also sounds quite good.

No, I'm a Pattaya kind of guy, and so are the kids, we enjoy all the facilities of Pattaya.
Why the snobbery?
For a lot of people who live in Thailand, Pattaya is their first experience of the country.
I can't fit a knotted hankie under my pith helmet.

there is no great snorkeling/diving along that coast. have to head out to islands and that is hit and miss for visibility. bang saphan is ok, there are actually 2 of them. the one on 1st page of thread that saint likes is ao manao, just south of hua hin. then i think another of similar name just at north end of prachuap khiri khan.

I voted Koh Chang but my vote is really not worth much since I was only to two of the nine place posted Koh Chang & pattaya I think it would be only fair if you had visit all 9 places then your vote would be important to vacationers looking for a place to go

Have done 6 of the 9, and would agree with the Koh Chang choice for someone in my position. If I was 20 years younger and single then I would probably have said Phuket, if I was 20 years older and single I would say Pattaya.
It depends on your own requirements for a holiday, and who else you have to cater for.

Pattiya used to be the best place to go,but now you got to watch your back all the time,and the friendlyness of the people goes down as time goes by,shootings nearly every week,and probaly more crime than any other part of thai,shame used to be so nice

Only been to 2 on the list...my personal favourite for relaxing beach holiday is koh sukorn down in trang, very chilled and competitivly priced...not much fun for kids though...more of a romantic place for couples really =P~
