Beware AEK Dental Clinic!! Go to Udom Clinic

PostAuthor: swami » March 10, 2007, 8:23 am

In the past few years, I have had some good work done by the dentists at AEK, however, my last trip was a disaster. The lady dentist told me I needed two root canals. I was then put in the hands of their root canal Dr.. I have had several root canals in the USA, and none were painful. This lady was very painful. During the second treatment, I told her to stop that it was just too much pain. I then went to a different dentist who told me that the tooth did not need a root canal, and neither did the one next to it. He told me that the AEK dentist had gone thru the root and into the bone and that the tooth would have to be extracted.
So, I was to be given two root canals that I did not need, and the root canal Dr was very incompetent. You are taking a big chance if you ever trust AEK dental clinic. love swami
The best dentist in Udon is at Udom Clinic. 73/13 Srisuk Road 042 221120. She is an honor graduate of the U of Michigan Dental School. They are a bit more expensive, but have all latest equipment. There is a big sign saying "Specialized Dentists" on the out side of the building.

I had been thinking about taking the family to AEK for our regular cleaning. Thank you for the warning.

I am sorry that you had to go through this, but I appreciate your passing along your hard-earned experience.

About five months ago my wife spent the night in AEK - they were intent on taking out her appendix, but we put it off until morning, when the symptoms had passed. It was gas. Maybe AEK has a tendency to increase their business.

:fart: .

not connected with AEK but a few years back my TW wife had pains in her guts, and we thought it was a bad case of indegestion/wind/gas and she took something for it and it did'nt go away so when she woke the next morning, i rushed her into the nearest hospital the bumrungrad, and they diagnosed that her appendix was about to burst so into emergency op straight away, hope that was'nt just gas it cost me a packet, anyway you put yourself in their hands and its difficult not to believe Doctors.

It is very difficult to not believe doctors!I worked with hundreds of doctors and of all of them only 3 impressed me.Not to say all the others were incompetent, they all make mistakes.Everything about medical practice is not an exact science.Doctors are trained to treat symptoms that are the cause of the problem MOST of the time. Some doctors are less sensitive than others and show more real concern for the patient, others are only in it for what they can get out of it!Which is probably true of most of society in general!
I have had several experiences with doctors working with chronic mentally ill and developmental disabled, where several doctors can't agree on medications and treatments.Had a 99 year old patient once that had cancer,he was to weak to try to remove the cancer and was in horrible pain! The doctors would never give him enough medication to really kill the pain ,they were afraid it might kill him and another group wanted to see him reach his 100th birthday,so there could be a big publicity birthday party the admin had already setup.THAT WAS MY LAST DAY AT WORK,I decided to retire early! He died 3 days before the birthday!I had a whole range of emotions as He had been my patient for many years, but the weirdest emotion I had was I felt glad that they didn't get to celebrate his living to 100!

I've read and heared that AEK is a good hospital, and they have some very good dentists working there. There are several dentists working there, so I think a bad experience with one dentist, doesn't mean that all dentists working there are bad.
Or that it is a bad hospital.
There are mistakes happening in all hospitals in the world, doesn't mean they are all bad hospitals.
Do you know the name of your incompetent dentist in AEK hospital? Did you complain at the hospital telling your story?
If the hospital doesn't know that one of their dentists is incompetent, they can't do anything about it.

Good point Frankie 1!!The other thing to consider is that in the West, malpractice suits are a concern,so not only are the medical costs higher, the doctors might be more inclined to make more proceedural diagnosis before operating!

I've been to all three of the mentioned places. Had a good root canal done at AEK after a second opinion at Wattana. Had a cleaning at Udon clinic -the dude that did it had bad breath and almost tore my crown off-really bad. Just had a filling at Wattana as well as a cleaning. Dr. Somjit at Wattana is the best, in my opinion, for cleanings and fillings. Nice touch and takes the time to do a good job.
