Polehawk, Canadians still ice-fish, play ice-hockey, curling and club baby seals over the head to infuriate Brigitte Bardot, Paul McCartney and his former wife.
I agree with Westerby. England is a great place to live. Well, this opinion is based on only two years in London as a student so it is not the view of a long-term resident. The winters were kind compared to any experienced in the Great White North (Canada). I loved London because there is so much green. It is an excellent walking city with free museums, art galleries, wonderful theatre and quaint old bookstores. Furthermore, I was on the Queen's home turf. And the history...it is marvellous.
I did not experience Hackney or many places south of the Thames, but I made it through a few Arsenal, Crystal Palace and Chelsea home games without serious injury. Never did the trek to the Den on Three Dog Island though to see if I could make it out alive from a Millwall match.
The three choices I have for retirement are Thailand, Canada and a long shot, England. Maybe I should add the possibility of Laos and Burma to the list.
