Same here UP2U is one of my favourite bars, nice boss, (Cat) decent grub, and a nice clean toilet, and no hassle.

Yan (John Aussie Pub) did tell me prior to 10 April (thats when I left Udon) that he would be relocating to the new area near MC and the golf shop on the way to the night market. I do not know if there has been a change of plans since then. Dow and Toiey (spell) at The Place to Be Bar said they are moving to the same location also.

That, as far as I am aware is still the plan. The old cottages have now been flattened and the "new soi farang" will soon materialise phoenix like from the ashes ..... I THINK that Aussie Pub has 3 units, and Up 2 U has the units adjoining, (but that's only hearsay) so if anyone can give some more "confirmed" info, I and I am sure many others would appreciate it.

Thats it boys it's all over...for the most part. I was out on the old beer moped and though I'll stop in Falang Alley for a goodbye beer, to late there moving out tonight. All though Mr. Tongs was open with a few suckers..ah..I mean customers setting out front. I refuse to pay Tongs prices so tonight I said goodbye Falang Alley. The best aspect of farang alley was the car park, where (with a motorbike, at least) one could usually find a parking space, even on a week-end. At the same time, I will be glad if its potholes disappear forever.

As far as I can ascertain through my sources, the old owner of the Charonsi Hotel Complex and the land opp complex, got into financial probs. The debt was brought out by bangkok business consortium, The old family not to happy, maybe hotel will change name. yes new Soi Farang being built two actually, one near to Top mansion and one near to night market.
est date of opening near to night market Mid june, near to top mansion anyone's guess.

The outcome of the so called (Buy out) buy out is that a car-park will be built, size as yet not known, D2 has extension to operate for at least 12-24 months, info a bit sketchy there.
What is being built, who knows, maybe central but i think from the size, doubtful.
i can state that central, carrefour as well as UD centre ( known) are all coming to Udon in the future.Possible a conference centre as well, exciting well the chaos in building anything near to Complex will no doubt hit the businesses there, for info they have built a carpark off one of the roundabouts, but when i saw it , getting a 4x4 up there would be interesting and as for Thais getting up it, questionable. but you never know.

Watch this space when I have more concrete info will advise.

Guns482, got the same info but considered it as rumor, also to add to the rumor is the Robinson complex will be renamed Central Plaza...go figure or is that rubbing salt in the wound. Also the Udon Centre (near railway station) from my understanding is still being built. Got info from friend who said he saw them digging in the area now. Will have to check that out for myself. Also saw that the bars in farang alley are no more.....look as they took grenades to it LOL.

I passed by the proposed UD Center site today, it looked liked they were filling and grading the area closer to Phosri Rd. I only saw two pieces of heavy equipment working, kind small scale for such a large project.

I heard Aussie bar is at the kaola bar temporary for two months

ok, sure would like to know where all this info is coming from, especailly the car park over by circle. when building, was told, already sold out to local people, not for public use. seems to be taking a real long time to finish.

i can predict carrefore, central and udon center is coming, and no 20 baht fortune telling charge. how a bout some facts, figuires and dates. sounds like a bunch of bull to me. obviously something is coming, at least along the lines of a bkk central, which is fine, the rest is rumor mill shtt.

now the D2 rumor, that believable, the last to be changed. but the rest, well, i'll wait for the results and buy beers for you if correct.
