Hi lightspur ive got an Apple i-pod holds 4-500 songs not to flash so it wouldnt be a temtation to the local grabbers i hang it around my neck under my t-shirt when im riding the bike around had it 2 years now not a prob with it when i come home i put it in a docking port full surround sound sounds great can buy them now for $40. no point in having an up to date modern i-pod all you want is something that will do the buiss and something you can easily hide on your person.

Roger that, they're there but when I drag them in the box they lose their luster and become letters and symbols. #

Drag them in the box? Maybe it's an idiosyncrasy of mac systems but try clicking and not dragging the smiley? Symbol for your chosen smiley should then appear. Click on "Preview" to see if the smiley appears correctly. :-k

Ipod? Dunno anything about that. Sorry if dragged off topic. :D

Do not forget that an i-pod is just Apple's way of trying to corner the portable/internet music market.
Like most Apple products they look nice, do what they say they will do BUT tie you down an "Apple" road & are more expensive than their rivals.
Apple sell on design & 'snob value', not on price or being the best on the market.
All the major electronic makers (and a host of Chinese companies) make MP3 players - so the variety, quality & price is far greater than for i-pods...
Example....(UK prices & obtainable - so more expensive than say USA, but same for all products).

ipod shuffle 4GB = 59.00 GBP
sansa clip 4GB MP3 = 38GBP

ipod nano 8GB = 107GBP
16GB = 146GBP
iRiver L Player 8GB MP3 Player = 80GBP
Creative Zen Mozaic 16GB MP3 Player = 90GBP
Samsung YP-Q1 16GB Portable Media Player = 95GBP

First: nice bike, lighspur1 - enjoy

Second: =D> Bob, right on, the guy needs a third rate player to save a couple of bucks after spending $20K plus USD for a bike he will be able to use, if lucky, 6 months out of the year, during the worst World Recession/Depression. =D> Good advice.

I am sure that Steve Jobs will be delighted that the $500M a year he is spending on advertising has not been wasted on you RL. p.s. this is nearly 5 times what the company spends on R&D to manufacturing these wonderful products.
p.s. if anyone thinks that Apple produce their equipment any differently than any other manufacturer then I will highlight an August 2006 letter issued by Apple after concerns were raised about the conditions under which ipods were actually manufactured...

No different to ANY other manufacturer - maybe worse than some.... :( :(

So, tell us Bob which of these great products did you buy? How long have you owned it? What prompt you to buy that brand? Does it still work? How was support? Lets have a review! Personally I don't own one, I like to listen to the world as I drive by. :D I also don't own an iPhone. but I would take one if someone didn't need theirs. :D

iRiver L Player 8GB MP3 Player = 80GBP
Creative Zen Mozaic 16GB MP3 Player = 90GBP
Samsung YP-Q1 16GB Portable Media Player = 95GBP

As far as an MP3 player is concerned....I bought a Samsung out of Hong Kong many years ago while I was living in UK. I bought that model because it offered very long battery life compared to any of its competitors. It is a bit small for memory now (compared to what is available now) as it only holds about 200 songs, but as I can download MP3 music from my pc to it at any time this is really plenty for me. So it has worked well for about 5 years now. The support was as adequate as I needed i.e. a manual to explain how to use it, it has never gone wrong so I can't say as far as repair goes.
If I was buying a new player I would go to the music magazine sites are available and read up on features available for price, did I want FM radio or voice record facility as well, for example, how long was battery life etc. Then decide from that.
As far as i-phone is concerned I have an equivalent 1phone N168, bought in Laos, manufactured in China. I purchased it because it has the ability to hold 2 different sim cards but use the two as 1 as far as using the phone goes.

Another advantage of a multi-function mobile phone against a stand alone MP-3 player is the camera quality on mobiles is getting better and the videos I put on YouTube were made with it. Now I'm off to read the instruction book... I want to make a phone call... 8-[

I live in west central Florida we can ride nearly any time of the year. A typical year we may get 20 or so days its to uncormfortably cold to ride. The final cost was 27k for the bike but we don't have a lot of bills and can afford the payments. My wife being small for even a Thai about 4'11" can't ride a big American bike and she refuses to get a small one and go ride with a bunch of Harleys, so we got one that will be comfortable for her to ride as a passenger.

Being from the NE, only found it too cold, when I can’t get my hands to pull the clutch/brake levers. Also having lived in Miami for a few years, except for around 5PM, could ride 365 days a year. The only problem I would have with “West Central Florida”, might be that its just too dam hot, but a nice cool night ride to the keys would solve that. :D
