Scolari sacked
Join the Sky Sports debate on Chelsea's decision to axe Scolari

Chelsea v Hull Luiz Felipe Scolari

The sensational news coming out of Stamford Bridge is that Luiz Felipe Scolari has been sacked by Chelsea.

Scolari was only appointed in the summer and oversaw just 25 league games in the Chelsea dugout.

Sky Sports News understands Chelsea already have two names on their short list, with Avram Grant a surprise contender to return.

Guus Hiddink is the other prevalent name on the list, with the Dutchman known to be close to Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich.

Saturday's stalemate against Hull City appears to have been the final straw for the Chelsea board, with 16 points dropped at home this season having hampered their title bid.

Have Chelsea jumped the gun in firing a World Cup winning coach? Did Scolari deserve more time to stamp his own mark on the side?

And what now for Chelsea? Who should they appoint? How surprising is the news Grant has emerged as a contender?

Have your say by filling in the feedback form below.

must be the worst Chelsea manager ever ,cant speak any English either ,dead loss .

I seem to remember his name coming up after Sven left the national team. I wonder how well he'd of done with coaching the England team.

Bit late posting, been on the golf course.
Wow, what a surprise. At the time I thought his appointment was great. Some of the football Chelsea played at the beginning of the season was some of the best I've seen from any team, not just Chelsea, but recently it looks as though he's been, "found out" by other teams and he doesn't have an alternative system. The Chelsea performances over the past two months have been dire.
My feelings are split 2 ways. Firstly I think he wasn't given a fair chance to create his own team. He only signed Deco, Boswingwa was already on his way. He wanted Robinho, but Kenyon mucked up that transfer deal for him, so he was stuck with the previous managers squad. Add this to the long list of injuries and not being given any money during the transfer window and he was fighting an uphill battle. Not having experience in the Premier league and his lack of English didn't help him.
Looking at it the other way, something had to be done. If things go on as they are Chelsea will struggle to finish 5th in the league, something they cannot afford to happen. What can a new manager do that someone of Scalaris ability not do? Well, perhaps the days of Ballock, Deco, Malouda and Kalou are numbered, I hope so. Also stop using a mid-field holding player for home games and use 2 forwards instead of one. Put some faith in the excellent youngsters that already play for the club.
Who will replace him? Personally I'd like to see O'Niel there, but can't see that happening. Hiddink has a proven track record, but then so did Scolari.
One things for sure, being a Chelsea supporter is never boring, you get use to being disappointed and always expect the unexpected.

Agreed something had to be done, I still cannot understand how a so called top manager can expect to intergrate Lampard, Deco and Ballack into the same midfield and for it to work. There needs to be a main man in the team, Lampard was that man for Mourinho and they enjoyed success, also knowing he had Claude Makele behind him was probably quite reassuring! Too many big egos in the team now and whoever comes in will have to be ruthless and make some tough calls!

Theres a school of thought that it all started going wrong for Scolari when Steve Clarke left.Prior to that they had been winning by playing attractive football and his replacement,Ray Wilkins, has hardly had an illustrious career as a manager or coach.
But if Hiddink takes over he's going to have to get rid of a number of players with questionable temperaments or who just arent up to it......Ashley Cole,Kalou,Malouda,Mikel,Drogba,Anelka,Ballak and Deco......but will Abramovich give him sufficient funds to revamp the squad ?
But for fans of Man United,Liverpool,Villa,Arsenal and Everton these are happy times seeing Romans Bridge come tumbling down ! :D

Hiddink is in charge untill the summer. My thoughts are Chealsea seem to be like The big 2 in Scotland buy buy buy does'nt matter if there getting on Chealsea are an ageing team they do not have the basics in place like a strong youth set up. can anyone tell me when was the last time a youth player joined there 1st team And kept his place Alex fergusson hasn'nt bought anyone apart from berbatof he brings young players to the club at 14-15 yrs of age and nature's them his oldest player now is giggs and he was mom on sunday. It has been proven there is no answear to young home grown talent something Chealsea have got to take on board. Rumour has it that the fat waiter at liverpool has been told by gillet that if liverpool do not win the league he is on his bike.

Beg to differ on the youth set up vlad. What info are you basing that opinion on? The youth set up at Chelsea is very strong. Frank Arneson quit the managers job at Spurs to take on the role of developing the youth team. He reckons around 2010 before the youngsters are ready to integrate into the first team, after that about 1-2 players each year could be ready for first team football.
Although they have been knocked out of this years FA Youth Cup, last year they lost in the Final to a very good Youth side at Man City.
P.S. Which team knocked the Man Utd youth team out of this years FA Youth Cup?

If Hiddink really is only stop gap then maybe he will not be allowed to make transfers in or out. The rumour mill says Abramovich's preffered choice is Carlo Ancellotti. I'm sure they will leave it till the new man is in place to buy and sell as he sees fit.
