If anyone may be interested there are two major attractions scheduled over the next two weeks. The first is the annual Loykrathong festival on Saturday 24th November to be held in Nong Prajak park. This is possibly Thailands most colorful celebration where everyone floats their krathong to take away last years bad luck and clear the way for better to come. It is also a chance to see many attractive ladies of all ages wearing the traditional Thai costume, with several competitions to judge the most beautiful lady and also the best krathong. Not to be missed.Bring your camera.
The second is the Udon Thani town fair held on the Thungsri Muang show ground. It starts on Saturday 1st December with a grand opening ceremony by Khun Hanchai , Mayor of Udon, and goes on till the 15th. It features a full fun fair, side shows and craft market. Throughout the two weeks many concerts, including Mor Lam are scheduled to take place. My hairdressing school will have a stand there where we will be offering free service in exchange for the learning experience to members of the public, in hair dressing.Maybe see some of you there?

I presume there will be a celebration for the King's birthday on December 5th... Any idea where the best fireworks display will be?

Yes its normal to have a candlelight vigil on that evening at the fair, with a massize firework display, very impressive to see everyone standing in silence with a lighted candle while the national anthem plays.

The TW and I were at the park last year of the candlelight vigil. The picture saying "Long Live The King" on the webpage was taken when we were there. First time I seen Thai women silent   \:D/

We will most likely be there again this year. Which by the way I would be happy to do again.

Just a note for the family members out there. Next Saturday, 12th Jan, is National Children's Day. The gates of the Army, Air force and Police dog training school will be open to the public as usual, with lots of entertainment laid on. Lots of other special activities at shopping centers and cinemas will also be provided. Go on, give the kids (and yourself)a treat, take them along. :D

Yes the orphanage will be celebrating children's day, with the multitude of stalls offering all kind of goodies and some entertainment. We cannot be there owing to a commitment in Nong Prajak but we are making a donation as usual. :D
