Disc Clean

PostAuthor: Kudjap or Bust » November 23, 2007, 8:51 am

WOW, I just did a disc clean on my 'C' drive, a friend emailled me saying he just did the same and to give it a go.

It freed up a colosal 18Gb of space, mainly temp files, error reports and all sorts of files similar.

Made sure the files weren't needed before deleting but WOW 18Gb of crap......

This is how i do it......Go in to 'all programs' then 'accessories' then 'system tools' and click on 'disk cleanup' and let it do the rest, then it will ask you if you wish to clean up the files it finds(and you can view these files), personnally i just click yes/ok/clean up and never lost anything i did,nt need, takes less than 2 minutes.

Cleaning your computer with the tools provided by Microsoft is insufficient (if you want to be sure that nothing potentially dangerous or incriminating tsays on your PC). For a reliable clean up of your computer, you need to use software such as Evidence Eliminator or Windows Washer.

Windows Washer can be downloaded as a free trial at the following URL:

I would recomend using CCleaner and is one of most popular freeware.
Just select those you want to clean and or select all.

Yes I agree with all this. Looking after your comp is like looking after a car. A bit of maintenance every now and again works wonders. I use Windows Washer regularly, then do a disc clean up as described above, check if I need to defrag every now and again (don't do that all the time though), then I use Privacy Guardian to completely clean all empty space (deleting alone won't do this). I also use Tweak XP to get the best out of the comp. As for spyware, virus etc, I use PC-cillin, Spyware Doctor, Spyhunter and No Adware.

Mostly PC-illin and SpyWare doctor though - what one doesn't find, the other does. Also run Windows update from time to time to get the latest software upgrades for your comp and its hardware.

Sounds a lot I know but I don't do all this all the time, and the laptop doesn't get clogged up with cookies and temp files.

Cheers
Phil
