Who is that famous Thai singer Thongchai "bird" McIntyre? That the T.A.T. hired to
promote their new Thais tour Thailand tourism campaign? I see those ads are now
starting to run and they paid him a fortune, many millions of baht I think. Even those
music festivals in Patters I believe they sponsored and were primarily for Thais but I
just don't think regular folks have money to go traipsing around the county. No idea
where they come-up with all these schemes.Actual, genuine discounts is a novel thought

well from what I read in Git URL is they are lucky to have 50 to 60 % occupied since the whole wold is in a crisis. and Thailand does not look so good from a tourist point of view with internal problems and the baht over valued just to name a few. and as American going to South America seems like a better deal for Americans & as for Europeans maybe coast line of portugal or northern Africa like Morocco Egypt
has a lot of history worth visiting just my thoughts pay no attention to me enjoy your day we only have
so many of them

Tourism sales draw 200 hotels
By SUCHAT SRITAMA
THE NATION
Published on April 1, 2009
More than 200 hotels will join a grand sales programme, offering 50-70 per cent discounts to lure travellers in the upcoming high season.

Slated for August, Tourism Grand Sales will be hosted by the Federation of Thai Tourism Associations (Fetta), which aims to gauge the advance booking position for Thai hotels in the high-season period from October to next February.

It might be worth knowing which hotels (in Thailand!) will be offering the discounts. ;)

the TAT don t know anything what happend in the world and in thailand, 50% off the staff is sitting and betting on the stock and the others doing nothing.
But they was playing taksin game, out with the pour in with the rich, they have built 5 stars hotels a lot, they have occupied rate of 25%, because they was thinking, they could get same rate as in the rich clean city. hotel rates in bangkok and by the beaches have gone up 300% the last 3 year. they are today living from the booking company who want 50-60% kommision. they have to been clean up in the bussiness, and a lot have to go down, everthing have to go down, landprice, rent for building etc.
and it will come, a lot off all these farang owned restaurant, guesthouse, bars, who want 10 times more profit, as if it was runing by thai. the keymoney, the monthly rent will fall a lot next year.
there are no space for 10% less turist - 20% big trouble - 30% war and bankrupt.
it it already satrted, try to sell today, tomorrow worthless.
I have never seen so much for sale in thailand in bussiness
and now also expensive house only for farang wallet, some people will loose a lot.

Maybe eventually the TAT will publish a list I'm sure it will be the high end properties. You can still get a fair room all over Issan for 400 baht and up. So I don't think they will be discounting.

Ron is right lot of things to see in this old world. I would imagine a lot competetion for that Tourist dollar everywhere.
