MORE ON DUTCHMAN ACCUSED OF FAKING DOCUMENTS TO DEFRAUD HIS WIFE OUT OF MILLIONS

On 14 December 2007, Tourist Police, police arrested a Dutch man and his female lawyer for conspiring to fake divorce documents in order to defraud the man’s former Thai wife out of millions of baht in property. The accused Dutchman claims to be the son of the world’s eleventh richest man.

On 17 December 2007, at 9:30am, Mr. Robert Dahan, along with his legal team, led by Mr. Paisan Chaipak, arrived at the Pattaya Court regarding the fraud charges against Mr. Dahan. The lawyers held a press conference for reporters. Mr. Dahan was accompanied by his girlfriend, Miss Bank, a katoey. Mr. Paisan explained that the three accused perpetrators, Mr. Dahan, Mrs. Prom Nawanok and Mr. Preeda Kulpreeda had made bail. The three are charged with conspiring to forge fake divorce documents. Total bail was 300,000 baht. The three will face a court trial in the beginning of February 2008.

On this day, Mr. Dahan and his lawyers appeared in court to testify about a previous case in which Mr. Dahan had sued his wife, Mrs. Nonglak Jareonsuk (31), who had also complained to authorities about the forged divorce papers.


Mr. Paisan, the lawyer, said that after inspecting the documents, the court will hear evidence in the case. He said that Mrs. Nongplak was attempting to file for divorce as Mr. Dahan had purchased all of their properties in her name. Mr. Paisan emphasized that Mr. Dahan wished to report the entire truth. The Dutchman, claiming to be the son of the world’s eleventh wealthiest man, has been living in Thailand for almost ten years. He had been married, legally, to his wife, Mrs. Nonglak. They have two sons, ages nine and five, who are being cared for by Mr. Dahan’s father in Spain.

According to Mr. Dahan, his father had given him and his wife the money to invest in Thailand. Mr. Dahan had trusted his wife and put everything in her name. He later claims he discovered that his wife wasn’t so honest after all, and had been having an affair with another man. This resulted in much marital discord and he claims his wife then filed for divorce. She accused him of being alcoholic and of having a new girlfriend, who was a katoey. Mr. Dahan claims he lost all his property after the divorce, but sued and managed to salvage sixty million baht. Mr. Paisan translated Mr. Dahan’s account and added that all the money that Mr. Dahan’s father had given him to invest should be accounted for. He indicated that this is a complicated case and will take a long time to adjudicate.
