Duty Free at the bridge .

PostAuthor: trubrit » June 16, 2010, 12:11 pm

When I used to come to NK for my visa I often brought the wife and a couple of her friends, who used to nip over the border and visit the duty free shops to get me , mainly , boxes of Italian wine .However on the last journey, about a year ago , they said the shops didn't have much selection and also the Thai customs were very stringent with their inspection .Since then of course imi have opened in Udon and I don't go that way any more. Has anyone been lately? Whats it like now? Any special recommendations on what are the best buys? My stock is almost exhausted so am thinking of giving it another try , next week . Thanks .

In all honesty TB, I am pretty sure the same range is available as when you went last year.

I have not seen more than a handful of different brands of (boxed) Italian wines in any of the duty free places, and on top of that, NK customs are still pretty stringent with the rules and regs on quantities coming back into Thailand.

With that being said, it may be worth another visit, but It's definitely not the same as it was imho!

Just out of interest, where and what is IMI??

I don't want to come across as a negative person here but I think Thai Duty Free's are really scary
I read this story a while back and it scared me.
