Email pages way too big for screen

PostAuthor: Paul » April 9, 2009, 2:19 pm

I am not sure if there is a solution or if the problem is from the sender or the receiver - but I often get emails which, when I open them appear to fill about 50% more than the screen allows, and to read the full email I have to scroll horizontally to read it - back and forth.

If there was a magic button to resize it to normal (1 page size) I would really like to know what it is.

Any suggestions ?

Try pressing "Ctrl" and - (the minus key) together - to make text smaller.

And "Ctrl" and the + (the plus key) together - to make text larger.

Well that brought everything onto one screen sure enough - but now I have to sit 6 inches away from the screen to be able to read it :(

Plan B ?

have you tried adjusting your display settings??

right click anywhere on your desktop and select properties

click on the settings tab and make sure the screen resolution is 1024x768

Hotmail, yahoo and 80% of Gmails text is ok - its just that sometimes I get an email that is 'giant size' and i guess that adjusting my general settings would upset all the other stuff.
My settings are correct in any case

It looks like there is no plan B and you'll have to have run with plan A then! ;)

This could be a case of the "sender" having a problem rather than you Paul.
If just some mail is coming to you in "giant size" then I suspect that there is either a "clash" between the mail server that the sender is using & the one you are using, or, more likely, the user who is sending you the mail has some strange settings on his/her mail account.
Might be worth your while noting where the large mails are coming from and seeing if there is a pattern i.e. is it from one particular person, or region.
I suspect that there is little you can do from your end to resolve this issue... :(

Seems that this is catching. I used to have this problem in MS Outlook but only from 1 sender. Lately I'm getting it in Yahoo. First it was from an MSN email and the email is 1 long line then 2 words all the way down the screen. Now I'm getting it from Yahoo to my Yahoo and I also have to scroll across the screen to read it... #-o #-o #-o
