English man found dead

PostAuthor: valentine » June 24, 2007, 1:28 pm

Report and photo from Udon dee.
On Friday the 22nd police were called to the Lutprasert House Mansion in Soi Don Udom where an Englishman, subsequently identified as James Patrick Carie, was found dead. He had died , police believe ,about 4or 5 days earlier, as his body was in a decomposing state. He apparently had previously lived at Amphoe Ban Udom with his Thai wife but moved out about 2 months ago , when he suspected his wife of having a Thai husband.. Neighbors at the mansion describe him as liking an evening drink at the local shop, and as a keen golfer and owner of a chopper motorbike.Cause of death is not known at this stage but police suspect a heart attack after sexual activity. A full autopsy will be carried out.

Well I have just discovered that the Soi mentioned above is apparently my Soi and is the Thai name for it. I have never seen any other Foreigners around here - apart from Wokawombat - and he is very much alive (and Australian too LOL)
I know of one who used to live around the corner though and had a chopper, he was (I think) in the motorbike group 'Red Scorpions'
Maybe it is him ???
I don't recall seeing any police activity on Friday - I will have to ask around.

So a farang in the missionary position albeit with his boxers on(very unusual these days from all the reports about farang dying) has been deduced by the police that it was sexual activity!
Ok will wait for the autopsy and Pauls report.

I see there's an ash tray and a packet of cigarettes so I guess the death could be smoking related! And no not that smoking

There was also a packet of condoms and some viagra which may have led to the police conclusion. :D

Paul, I think that may be the guest house in the soi that is at the end of my soi and off to the right. It runs down to Amphoe Rd near the new Paradise hotel.

I was talking to a English bloke in the Downunder Thurs or Fri night and he told me thats where he lived. It is near the little klong that runs behind your place. He told me he missed the bridge one night and put his bike into the klong. I am sure he said it was a big bike.

Approx area J 17 or 18

Whoops, just re-read Vals post and he (not Val) had been dead for 4 days when I was talking to him. Mistaken identity.

A happy man when he went ..or could have been very lonely also(RiP), someone must know him(chopper bike and Golf player).Look-out for an update val.

This may get a little more regular what with the expanding retirees moving to Udon.
And the rooms in that place look quite nice.

I dropped into the mansions this afternoon and George from Fiddlers Green and another falang were looking after things, trying to contact ralatives in the UK I think. Sad to think he could have been there for 4 or 5 days and no one knew.

Rest In Peace Jim (James Patrick Kelly)

PostAuthor: The Guvnor » June 24, 2007, 8:35 pm

I am deeply saddened to say the chap this story (Jim) James Patrick Kelly! was a very close personal friend of mine for the past 4 years or so!

I was made aware of Jim's passing on Friday!
I am still stunned & deeply shocked at this tragic news!
Jim liked a drink & was a regular at Brians (Time Bar on falang Alley) as well as George's (Fiddlers Green on the same soi as the Irish Clock! amongs others, so i'm sure many of you guys will have met him.
Incedently it was George who raised the alarm after noticing Jims car hadn't been moved for a couple of days!
Jim was fairly well known in & around Udon Thani & was well liked by all!

Jim recently agreed to take over some finance payments of a Honda Phantom from a friend of his, hence the reference to a motorbike! I don't think he used it much if at all though!

Myself & others are trying desperately to find some contact details for family members in the UK, so far in vain i'm afraid!
Apparantly there are no next of kin details entered in Jims Passport.

All we know is that Jim was originally from Liverpool in the UK although his last place of residence in the UK was in the Greenwich area of London.
Jim was working for a company contracted to Greenwich Borough Council & was working as a clerk of works!
Although it is believed jim was one of 16 siblings folks around here only ever met one slightly younger brother called Kevin who'm was living in the Algarve!

It seems the authorities will not release the body to Jims ex partner as they were never married!

Although the British Embassy are sure to have been informed & will probably be dealing with this, it would still be nice to be able to contact Jims family!

Does anyone have any suggestions that may help us achieve this???

Please keep this thread civil & respectful.

Many Thanks
