It's a strange fact ergman, that the Thai movies will often be available with English subtitles but almost never will the Western movies that have been dubbed into Thai have English subtitles.
Go figure!

I'll tell you what's a pretty good movie to go see if you've got time "SomTum".
Not one of those Thai ghost (pee) movies but actually a fairly entertaining
story with some good messages. AND the farang in movie is the good guy?

Filmed almost entirely on location in Pattaya, you may recognize many of the
set areas. It is in Thai with English subtitles but also as one of the co-stars is
a farang there is much English dialogue as well? Thais thought it hilarious.

Thought it was interesting how the farang was portrayed as dim witted and fearful. Only became a hero after the local people figured out how to motivate him. Nevertheless was better than some.

I personally feel that now DVD's are more available than a few years ago, they have stopped screening many films with English sub titles or even in English as the farang population can either watch movies on UBC/True or buy the DVD's.
Home viewing has now become so sophisiticated that enjoyment at home is worth it and you can monitor which films the little ones watch, which can help too.

You also don't have to suffer inconsiderate morons talking all through the films to their friends sitting in the next seat or into a mobile phone.

There is a Thai movie (English sub) "Last Moment" I think, a bit of a tear jerker/chick flick, but I enjoyed and would recommend it. Gone to quite a few of the comedy flicks, the Thais all laughing like crazy but I just can't seem to be able to read/tell a joke!

Ruk Som Saio is what the tittle of the movie mentioned above sounds like. So I guess it would be "Three in Love" or something, anyway I liked it and I could get the humor also.

True, like meetings, Thais seem to have the ability ( or lack of ,really do not know)
of speaking through anything and then engaging in what is seemingly inteloigent conversation about whatever it is they are watching or taking part in.
One very good Thai friend said to me,,no no no, they are asking what the hell happened and is it goping to effect them if not who cares, if so they then start to listen.
Good way of beating stress, but now understand why it is you have to tell someone three to four times how to do something.

No idea but keep this thread going because me and the outlaws love a bit of 007. Hopefully it will still be showing when I get to UTH so we can all go down and watch it.

I made inquiries yesterday and they told me Quantum of Solace will be shown in Thai only. Most movies are shown in Thai only these days, I guess there are not enough farang movie goers to justify it. :(

I'll give Khon Kaen cinema a call later.
