Englishman's Retreat Guest House, Gym & Car Hire

PostAuthor: lee » September 27, 2007, 6:11 pm

We would like to welcome Englishman's Retreat to udonmap.com. They run a small guesthouse just outside the ring-road. You can find more details about their business on their website here http://www.englishmansretreat.com

Here is the advert they sent us for the magazine:

It all looks like a good deal, but as with many of the ones who I try to contact via email, I NEVER get any response.

Hi all,

I went to visit Glynn at the hotel about 2 weeks ago - he was just finishing off some things, pool, gym etc. He said he didn't have access to the net at the time and was shortly to get the net sorted at the hotel. Hence I think for a while it's been difficult to get hold of him. Hopefully should be sorted asap, especially as he's on Udonmap and has the website (albeit under construction still). Mind you, you know what it's like dealing with LOS builders/tradies! Looks good though - I took some pics of the hotel and forwarded them to him when I got back to Aussie and I'll be keen to have a stay there when I'm next back.
Cheers
Phil

Hi,

Not quite. If you are going to BB, you turn left off the main road and drive about 300m to the soi on the right where BB is. Carry on past that soi instead of turning into it for about 200m and the hotel is on the right.

Last week we stayed 4 days in the Englishman's Retreat Guest House, 400 baht a night; the rooms were big and very nice.
Glynn is really a nice guy and very helpful, second bonus; his wife is very beautiful!! :D
The only minus I can think about: rather far away from town and not easy to find a tuktuk in this soi (but they have motorbikes and cars for rent), and the army shooting range at the other side of the street!
It's a nice place to stay. They are just starting up, so there are still some minor things that have to be improved, but overall; it's worth the money for sure ;) Next time in Udon I'll go to this guesthouse again.
Rudi from Belgium.

In August, I sent an email to one of the providers of accommodations who regularly advertise here. I wanted to make reservations for December 2007. Never heard a word from them in response to the email.

Two weeks before I am to leave to fly here to Udon, I get an email asking if I still want the accommodations. Huh?!?!

Needless to say, I had already made other arrangements when I got no response.

Thank you Rudi for the feed back, it's good to here positive and negative, I'll look 4ward to seeing you in the New Year.

Yes Beermonkey you do like your sanmigel don't you!!

I am not sure why Ricohoc has had problems getting in touch with us, earlier at the start of this venture, actually before we even opened our doors, there was a minor glitch where my website wasn't directing emails correctly, this was sorted out a few days later and since have had no problems communicating with people (unless you count my spelling as a communication problem-can't argue with that!)

Please don't be discouraged to get in touch by any means, you will always have a reply, and we always do our best to make your stay a pleasant one.
