Disclaimer
I did not nor do I intent to slam the job functions of the TSA. They have thier purpose and do a darn good job. And tolerate numerous a*sholes during thier day.
My intent was to inform that the Transportation and Safety Administration does a great job with what they have and do.
They do not have any law enforcement authority, including making decisions of an United States Immigration matter.
If a problems arises, they will contact the nearest LLEA, which will have authority within the airport. ( normally one or two right next to 'em reading the paper and watching the ladies )

Update:

I just arrived in the states with my Thai wife. When leaving Thailand, I skipped the foriegn passport line (each line had about 20 people) and went straight to the Thai passport line (which had no one in line). No problem getting my U.S. passport stamped since I was traveling with my wife.

When arriving in the U.S.A (LAX airport), we went to the American passport line and they processed my wife's Thai passport and Visa with no problem.

All together I figure we saved 3 - 4 hours.

Excellent. Some things are going well this season!
Did they give her a 6 month stamp?

Yes - she got a six month stamp. They didn't even ask to see her return ticket. I figure once they saw we were headed for South Dakota, they knew there was no way she would want to stay for good!
