If the books he got from Harry's bar to start his library is any indication, I'm afraid he'll be asking for 35 baht for each swap. When the books were at Harry's, it was a FREE swap - bring one or two in, take one one or two out. That's a true 'swap'.

True Paka. However my understanding was that Ken had to buy these books off Harry.

It just seems easier to me to jump on my m/c, go to the NM, pick-up 6 DVD's (many with multiple movies on them if you like), get DVD cases with proper labels and be back home in less than an hour for 400 baht.

Not true, with a bit torrent client you start and stop as you require, you don't have to sit waiting for anything, just leave yr computer on.
As for viruses, I picked up a nasty one called Smit rem about a year ago, got rid of it by cleaning it manually, but thats the only one in 2 years and I DL at least a terabyte annually. But if yr happy with the crap they sell at the NM, and I have brought enough there in the past over the years, no problem for me.
For me I don't bother with Movies that much but I love (mainly) Brit TV programs, Top Gear, The Bill, Soho blues, cooking programs, Drama etc but not Coronation street.

Same here... I haven't had one single virus in all my bit torrent downloads. Have you watched Life on Mars 1&2? Ashes to Ashes? Hustle? Also just DL a few series of Cracker.

As for movies, Gran Torino (Clint Eastwood) looks good. May be a while before we get to see it here.

Pity Jamie Murray (Don Beech's daughter innit) left... a Cracker (him again.) She's gone to the US and is now in Dexter.

i thought Gran torino was excellent as was Cadillac records, neither will win much at the ooooscars, but entertaining films.

Limewire is a DC network that allows you to download files directly from another scorce (from someones PC to your PC). This means that you will get any virus that they have. Torrent downloading is different. Here you download fractions of the file from a number of scorces. I have never got any viruses from torrent downloading.

To download you need a torrent client. You can find a good one for free at: http://www.utorrent.com/
Once installed you can download from a torrent tracker. My favorite is: http://thepiratebay.org/

You sound like you could use some tuition, you got any beer?

Open utorrent and go Options > preferences, then> directories, set up the folders where you want to store DLs and where you want to put new DLs etc.
Then subscribe to a bit torrent site, for most you will need an invite but some public ones you don't.
www.demonoid.com is a good one.
Browse thru the torrents and click on Download for those that interest you.
It should start automatically loading it into your folder, when its finished open and enjoy.
I usually keep 10 DLs going at the same time and leave them available for seeding for a month or two.
