Exchange rates on home page.

PostAuthor: trubrit » November 26, 2008, 3:48 pm

What has happened to the continually updated Bangkok Bank rates?Where do these rates come from. They never show date or time of update and as I am writing this are currently more than 1.5 baht to the pound lower than official bank rates.Bit deceptive .

We are now using our own script to pull the currency exchange rates from an XML data sheet. The BB did not show the Aussie dollar so we wrote our own to list the most common currencies for us expats in Udon. The script pulls from a US source here currencysource.com. The last update was Tue, 25 Nov 2008 17:20:01 CST and will be updated from 8am to 5pm CST.

In comparison to Bangkok Bank our widget is 0.76 baht difference on the pound but this is because the US source is not live yet.

I don't know of an XML currency data feed service in Thailand so I will have to use the US feed for now.

Sorry Lee.At this moment in time the UK pound is 53.14 on B/B and 52.28 on forum. Even the Aus $ is 22.33 compared to 21.91 on forum. Making your source of exchange next to useless. If you go back to BB it does have a more currency link at the bottom of the page.Just a thought.

Same here! 53.14 . NOT 52.28.I use SIAM COMMERCIAL BANK to check the baht. They show about 6 updates throughout the day.You can go back and check years what the previous rate was.eg ..Last nov, baht was 68.76 to pound.

Here is a screen shot of both this morning, not much difference IMO.

Our widget is showing the international rate, rates within Thailand may vary i.e. Bangkok Bank.

Rates show on XE.com look like they are a buy and sell price average.

How about someone posting Exchange rates as they see them in Banks/exchange in Udon..a daily rate as seen by someones eyes would be of benefit to us all on here i am sure.
If someone wants to get the ball rolling, maybe on a new thread/or just change the title of this one.

Any chance of another screenshot of both, I'm sure they will be different now as the one on the home page still has not changed since 5 o'clock LAST NIGHT

Lee, is it possible to go back to the old site until an "XML currency data feed service" is found in Thailand?

Having the currencies updated during the middle of the night, and then not updating them all day (The very time when the Thai Banks are open and trading) seems to me, to be about as much use as having a "chocolate Teapot"
