If you have the money in the bank, is it necessary to have an affidavit from your embassy stating your monthly retirement income?

A med cert might be required during your original application, but not on renewals.I would check ahead of time ,if I were you!
Embassy ''income'' affidavit relieves you of the need to have the 800K in the bank!

No questions asked? Or did they ask you for a reason for the early request for an extension?

In the past they would want a reason (air ticket) if wanting to do more than 30 days early but since the change to regional centers most offices have been encouraging early applications - up to three months in at least one case. You should check with the office you will be using for local policy.
