It is hard to imagine that anyone could be so stupid to expect to make money through drugs in Thailand!If in fact he is ''doing business with some Thai authority'',he is doomed because they now own him and the first sign of ''heat'',he is a goner!In the meantime,they can extort him for everything he has

I think it is a complete false rumor anyway.Can't imagine a Udon ''bar owner'' having any great contact with authoriteis to be in cahoots and I can't imagine the Thai police doing business with a falang retailing drugs

If this were going on, I'm sure the word would have spread far enough for some of us to have heard it before now
I think I'll file this "RUMOUR" alongside the one I heard the other day, about the girl in my local village paying a big police chief B50,000 every month, to allow her to run a "black lottery" in the village.
Now I know Thai's love to gamble, but B50,000 plus any prize money, would require just about everyone in the village to bet about B1500 every month, and that would be just to "BREAK EVEN".

Whilst it is true that many "rumours" have an element of truth in them, and that "there is no smoke without fire",
I still find it hard to believe that someone was selling heroine & cocaine in Udon.
There are far too many eyes, ears, and more importantly BIG MOUTHS in Udon for this to be happening without it being "common knowledge" in some areas
There are plenty of "Stupid Farang" about, (you only have to look at the prices being paid for some bars/resurants etc;), but surely NOBODY in Udon would be stupid enough to peddle "hard drugs" in a bar (in one of the new complex that have opened). It's like someone selling the stuff from a stall in Camden Market, under the noses of all and sundry.
And B10,000 - B20,000 a month backhander ......... no way .......... anyone having their 'palms oiled' would wan't far far more than that to stay quiet.

My guess as to where this "Rumour" came from ............. probably some guy smoking a bit of Ganja.
He takes some home, smokes it infront of/with Girlfriends brother, who then tells his mates that his sisters "farang" is getting drugs in Udon. He makes up a story, (he knows the farang drinks in certain bars so it has to be one of them doesn't it?) but he hasn't got a clue really, and he has to "be in the know" in front of his mates (this is Thailand). Suddenly, before you know what is happening, there are Hard Drugs being sold at "such & such bar", when in reality there was a spliff given to a 'friend' somewhere on a street in Udon

I do know that it was possible to go to a bar in the old Soi Falang & ask the Falang bar owner if you wanted prescription drugs (V etc) or ganja or speed. He would then make a phone call & a Thai citizen would come & do the deal with the customer. As far as I was aware he did not actually profit from this (except in beer sold while customer was waiting.)
I do know that cocaine is sometimes available in Udon, but I am told this is infrequent, never heard of heroin on sale but I guess if there is a demand there is a supplier...
I also have met a few Falang (visitors only) over the last couple of months who claim to have made money (in their own country) from selling drugs. I have tended to take this with a "pinch of salt" - it seems to be the new "badge of honour story" where it used to be SAS Membership....

And if the same amount of people are REALLY selling drugs, as those that were REALLY in the SAS there would not be a drug problem.

heck, a while back there were many members (on this board) trying to pimp off their excesses of generic viagra, or other substitutes.

gotta agree on that one , bit like chalk and cheese !!!!! yes you may be able to get a little bit of thai weed , or even some whizz , but i really cant see heroine or coke being peddled from a bar , especially by a farang , unless hes on a death wish , its still a executionable offence here , is it not ? as for the police turning a blind eye to it for a few baht , they make more than that at any intersection , any day of the week . what with the kings niece living and working here , i think they would never allow it . no i think the whole story is bull ,

Some of the local Thais refer to this bar owner as a vampire owing to the hours he maintains. They also note that there are many farangs living/visiting Udonthani now, and some of them are not of the nicest disposition.

Please ,not another plastic copper ,doing his duty , I actually prefer the criminals to people like you , leave the job to the real boys and get a life.
