As far as I know, it's just legal if a condo. Home has to be in the name of a Thai.

There are experts on here who can elaborate more, and I'm sure they will. :D

NO! it is FORBIDDEN ! Another "welcome farang" to Thailand rule! You can buy a house and put the house in your wifes/G/F name. Then if you break up, she keeps it!

I believe that you can own the house ,but not the land it sits on!I know several falangs that have either longterm leases,Usfrastructs and superfecies rights to the land while owning the house in the falang name only!
Of course,if you buy the house in your GF/wifes village, you will not e able to stay there comfortably if you break up.Nor will you be able to sell it!

You can get a superfecies for your entire life on the land to use as you see fit, including building your house on it!

IMO,I see no need to be derisive to a poster that posts a legitimet question whether we think he is an impostor or not.I think it distracts from the from the subject and takes the thread off course which might give a wrong impression to a newbie if you are wrong! :D

I totally agree Stan.

People on this forum (with some exceptions) have no idea who Chang is, as evidenced by some of their previously wild speculations. I do know him.

I can see nothing in Konan's posts thus far which would lead me to think he is Chang.

So let's back on topic, and answer the guy's question.

Ok Stan if you think its a legitimate question then you are right of course!!!! But this question has been answered a thousand times as we all know...This troll is just winding you up, and taking advatage of your helpful nature or cant you see this, his "englhis" is much improved in other posts, his next troll will be about visas, then what? marrying? then what??? "Konan" The mighty Konan, smacks a bit of the type of name chang would use too... (thanks in advance) come on stan think about it... thats good english not english used by an italian, only an english speaking person would use that phrase!!!! It took me a while to know what farang meant, hes been online a day and hes using farang as a normal everyday word... dont u think if he was real he would use a word like foriegner or italian, or non thai???
i may be wrong but i very very much doubt it stan... it chang 100%

well if you know him jack , why dont you climb down from your high horse and name him , which would put an end to all speculation . changs p~ssed off a lot of members on here and deserves everything he gets , hes also used several names in the past , therefore putting doubt in everyones mind when a new poster comes on !!!!!!!! in my opinion konan is the chang . if you feel so strongly that im wrong , do the decent thing and reveal the pr~ck .

In all fairness Dave I went back through the post and the English mistakes do look suss. I have read a couple of other posts and there are definitely some inconsistencies in his spelling. However as Stan has said we must be careful not to confuse or be rude to a newbie until there is substantial proof.

Seems this man has got what he wanted....Attention! and many have fallen for it here.He must be laughing his socks off! Now, some people here have a complex Think OH OH its HIM! The one and only MC!
I have been reading these threads for so long now,and up till now Not commented. But all he's doing is winding everyone up.All the time he is feeding BS , People are Taking the bite!
If We were to just ignore his posts, not reply,he would have Peed off long ago.Now his alias God knows who.
Maybe Its ME! My dear Watson! 8)
Anyway ,This post is about an staight forward question ."Farang can buy house" If this is a genuine request by Mr KONAN( and I think it is) he must think were nuts!

Saint I have a strongly held belief that one shouldn't reveal personal (ie private/non-public) information about others on any forum. The consequences of doing so are unpredictable to say the least, and in a small community such as ours can lead to a complete break-down in trust amongst the farangs.

While I agree that some of Chang's stuff has been offensive, I also know where he is coming from ie he is a wind-up merchant, and he has said so himself in earlier posts. Notwithstanding, I have no intention of "outing" him.

ps looking at your avatar, it is a bit rich of you to accuse me of being on a high horse
