Firefox 3 Beta

PostAuthor: canuck-viking » February 21, 2008, 6:11 pm

I was bored today so I downloaded the new Firefox 3 Beta web browser. It is quite an improvement over the old version. There are many improvements in the menu bar, search functions and the download functions. I was very impressed. The only problem is that many of the extensions and themes have not been updated to the new browser yet. From what I read there will be another beta version before the firefox 3 final version is released. I will never use the IE explorer from Microsoft.

I only tried Firefox version 3.0 tonight. One thing I like is the full screen option. I do not like how so much of the screen can be reduced with all the add-ons. F11 is not a new concept and has been on IE or Firefox for as long as I can remember. However F11 with Firefox 3.0 is even better and when you move the cursor down the page you get total full screen browsing.

Thanks Alan, didn't know about the F11
very interesting, much better with that full screen option.
I still work with mozilla 2.0.0.14
Is it worth to update to the 3.0 version?
many differences or extra options?

again thanks for that F11 option, simply forgot it long ago and never used it.... #-o #-o #-o #-o

Cookie - I just updated for the sake of it. Went to filehippo looking for Miro and noticed that CCleaner had an update and Firefox 3.0 was not beta version so just gave it a go. I do not go for many add-ons just the barebones version is fine. But like I said I like the fullscreen viewing option so with even just that I am not going back to 2.0.0.14.

2 things I found strange... On installation it said it could not install the US English dictionary (I don't use that anyway) and when I tried to go to Yahoo.co.uk Firefox locked up and I had to ctrl+alt+del 3 times BUT it works ok with Yahoo.com! Answers on a postcard please!

A useful little ad-on for Firefox is Google preview. When you do a Google search the results are returned with a thumbnail preview. Although the thumbnail is quite small you get an idea of the page content so it might save you time clicking on every result.

Download Google Preview Here
