Almost three years ago, a co-worker's daughter was going to Thailand for the first time in her life, and all by herself. She had a peanut allergy so severe that contact even with any oil would possibly kill her. So in her worry, my co-worker asked if I could possibly have some sort of solution for her.
All I did was let the Canadian Embassy in Singapore know about the situation, and one of them provided a written (in Thai script) alert that this young woman could carry with her and show to anyone involved in food preparation for her. It was E-mailed to us, and the young woman evidently had it laminated or something.
She had a fabulous time, by all reports, E-mailing her mother a travelogue every now-and-then. The only malady she ever experienced was the Thai equivalent of "Montezuma's revenge."
