Foreign husbands pay off for Thais

Long distance relationships, mixed relationships etc...

Thank you for the effort Valentine.
The response you received does not come as a suprise.
I have often quizzed my wife, a middle class university educated thai, on why they put up with that sort of crap. A blank no comment look used to come back, but lately I realise that she woke up long ago as she is now married to this farang and living in his country.

While I some what agree Doc that one should not change the cultures of another country I think that it would be in the best interests of thai women if change did come that their rights were more in line with western cultures. But that is for thai women to change through their own education and protest, not farang men. I often ask thai women in our rather large thai female community here if they prefer living here or would rather be back in Thailand. Most would prefer to live here in New Zealand but it generally comes with one provisio - if they could have their daughters here as well, then they would never go back to Thailand. They very rarely request their sons to be here. When one sees the value they place on their daughters here (the want for them to gain higher educations and have falang husbands who value them) it is not hard to figure what they think about thai treatment of their women.

Just tried to explain this all to my wife and she said Paradorns wife is half Thai. I know for a fact that children are considered Thai if they have one Thai parent. This would explain why she has entitlments that we can only dream of. Sorry to hear you have decided to give up Val, but understand it completely. I cant imagine a Thai man wanting to acknowledge the rights of a farang and so its probably a lost cause anyway. Thanks very much for the effort, and enjoy your retirement. Hope I get a chance to buy you a beer in a couple of weeks. :D :D

To Foreign husbands pay off for Thais
May I humbly say it is very appreciative for the sincere good intentions.
The pitch on differences in treatment of a Thai woman marrying a farang (not my word) male. In my humble opinion the subject unintentionally was shocking, explosive and devisive to the audience expecting to hear the explanation of the problems for the woman in a mixed nationality marriage. It was answered with a laugh and many other comments and not one woman protested in order to diffuse a very tense atmosphere.

In my humble opinion sometimes in the marketing of ideas it is best to use a pull strategy than a push strategy.

Thank you

Paradorn's fiancee (unless he has changed model very recently) is 100% Canadian and not 1% Thai, however she can expect the right of citizenship in Thailand by marrying him and be given the rights other Thai women have, notably and realistically none.

She fell down a huge notch in Thai society with her comments in a Thai beauty salon. :D

Although she may well have Canadian citizenship... she was born in Russia.
