free wi-fi

PostAuthor: tutone » October 23, 2008, 5:09 am

Are there free wi-fi hotspots in Udon Thani and where are they? Will be arriving in Udon soon for a long stay and would like to know where to go to use my laptop until I get settled in and have my own connection to the internet. Appreciate any information. Thanks.

can't beat the irish clock for a meal and a pint or 2, and free wifi, but secured, so patrons only. pop pop internet, not free wife, but excellent internet you can trust, 15 baht an hour. i wouldn't bother with any other places. if not needing speed for large uploads on regular basis, AIS offers inexpensive 100hrs/374 baht, works for me, as no land line, and some of the excellent service i hear about, i'm about the same anyway. if need large up/downloads, i'll hit irish clock or pop pop's net. can use laptop at both, though pop pop's doesn't have wife yet. couple hotels offer free wifi/internet.

There is a very good internet cafe where the road leading toward Robinson's meets Adulyadej Road. It is the same road as the one for the Karin Hotel. I have forgotten the name now but will try to remember to search for the Karin Hotel card that they distribute and let you know tomorrow.

Anyway, it is the SaSa internet cafe and costs 15 baht an hour. It is as good as anything that I have used in Canada, the United States, Khon Kaen, Nakhon Ratchasima (Korat), Loei, and Bangkok.

There is another place where you can use the computers conveniently located just about opposite the Lak Muang near the far end of the Charoensri Complex. This is part of the language school whose name I have also forgotten. But, it is 20 baht an hour and there were problems with the connection and speed.

I stayed at the JanCondotel for 90 days - 10,000 baht a month. If you know that your stay will be 90 days, I believe the price will then be 7,600 baht a month. This includes high speed ADSL Internet access in your room. You do have to pay for your water and electricity.
