some people are born miserable, some people have misery heaped upon them, and some bring misery to themselves, no one said life was going to be a picnic. :( :( :( :(

Can't remember who, but someone once said "No matter where you go, there you are."
I think some people come to Thailand thinking that everything will be wonderful, but they find that they brought their problems with them.

I learnt my lesson a long time ago.Now I get a problem, I kill it! throw it away!

Its so easy to complain, but let's write for once why we complain, what impact it has on us, why we dislike others and more important what are we looking for in the "others"

As for me, I don't care, young or old, doesn't matter from what country (but I do have my personal list of non-friendly countries), and people are free to do what they want as long this does not disrupt my or my family's personal life.

As I do the same to others. respect for who one is and accept one another. Life is all about making adjustments rather then changes.

Hello

I hope they stay out of Udon Thani. When I visited Udon thani I found most farangs friendly and helpfull. Saying hello doesn't cost anything. Only one bad experience with a scandinavian bloke in udon who thaught he was in phuket. But I've seen many of them in Bangkok and in Pattaya. They ignored me and tried to date my GF (now ex) in front of me in hotels were we stayed. My new GF ( living in Isaan) had the same problem in Bangkok where we stayed in May. I always stay friendly but I ask them politely if they have a gf in their own country and if so if they would like me to do the same with their gf. Most get the message. Only an asshole from austria tried to be funny by talking filthy language in german but bad for him I speak german fluently too.And so he got a few reminders of the war from me and the fact that a famous austrian who later became german must have been an inspiration for him. He was asking for it and he got it.
I'm aware I'm guest and have to behave. Being friendly or say hello is rule number one. It goes for any place in the world and on the long term rude behaviour doesn't bring anything.
And again let those fools who have a personality problem stay in pattaya. The thai who work there in the p4p scene are masters in scamming and handling them.

Galee wrote:Unfortunately Thailand does attract a certain type of character that doesn't fit into society in their own country. They come to Thailand hoping that a more tolerant society will accept their dysfunctional personality.

Maybe Thais, not being familiar with Farangs do not recognise this type of person, where as a farang will pick up on it quicker and generally avoid contact.

Don't forget what your mother use to tell you. "Don't talk to strangers" :D

They would need good focus on the pussy after plenty of alcohol though, as you never know what you are going to get.

People rarely smile to strangers in the West so maybe they are suspicious that you may want something from them. It's just a cultural thing.

Maybe it's the devalued US dollar and the GBP and the off-the-chart global inflation that has wiped smiles off faces.

All faces.

The Thais don't look as confident and carefree as they used to, and they are really feeling the pinch. More like a punch to them, so let us get things in context here: The Kingdom isn't cheap Charlie paradise anymore (the weather has been quite awful too).

Not much to smile about, eh.

And if I'm in a shopping maul [yes, maul -- for that's how it ought to be spelt, IMHO] my primary objective is to exit like a force ten gale ASAP. I'm like a one-person SWAT team in there. Get in, buy, get out.

I do not socialise there. Converse with strangers, in there?

I for one, cannot wait for that impersonal, dehumanising commercial carbunkle to be razed to the ground, once and for all.

Naturally, I am dreading its replacement.

But I digress.
