I CONSIDER MYSELF A FRENDLY SOUL .TALK TO ANYONE.IT IS NICE TO CHAT WITH A FELLOW FARANG HERE AND THERE.
HOWEVER,WHEN I GO SHOPPING, OR WALK ALONG THE STREET,I OFTEN SEE A FARANG,I ALWAYS SMILE.EVEN A NOD WOULD BE APPRECIATED.BUT I FIND A LOT FARANGS WILL LOOK DOWN SO TO AVOID EYE CONTACT. OR LOOK AT ME LOOK DAGGERS!
I WONDER WHAT THEY ARE THINKING?I FEEL SO DISAPPOINTED REALLY.
WHEN YOU SEE SO MANY THAI'S ALWAYS READY TO SMILE!
ALL I CAN THINK THESE PEOPLE ARE DEPRESSED BUT WHY? MOST ARE ON HOLIDAY!

Ah, I wouldn't worry about it too much. There's a lot of nice Westerners in Udon, as well as a lot of freaks. You probably just ran into some of the the local ex-Panzer commanders. It's the ex-U-boat captains that smile the most.

Your are right ther are a lot of top guy's in Udon.I know alot of people who have lived here for a long time.Its a country town so we should all get along with everybody.but its not the case ansd its a shame.

Unfortunately Thailand does attract a certain type of character that doesn't fit into society in their own country. They come to Thailand hoping that a more tolerant society will accept their dysfunctional personality.

Maybe Thais, not being familiar with Farangs do not recognise this type of person, where as a farang will pick up on it quicker and generally avoid contact.

Don't forget what your mother use to tell you. "Don't talk to strangers"
