Full Moon

Sponsors nightlife venues...

Wazza,

That's a shame the Full Moon Public House went Tits Up.
I might have worked if there was a combined bar, restaurant, and accommodation, and they owned it without having to pay rent.

4 million baht does seem a lot to pay for fixtures, fittings, and goodwill.

How do you define goodwill regarding the full moon, the hostesses that keep getting the return punters paying for short time so generating beer profits at the establishment. :?
4 mill baht is taking the piss, the hostesses would want at least double the asking price 8)

I went in there a few days after it first opened. I asked if the music could be toned down a bit. Was told the customers wanted loud music. I looked around and found I was the only customer so again asked for music to tone down. No joy, so "Check Bin" and never go back even though I drive/ride up the Soi alongside about 4 nights a week and there are always cuties outside.

What rumours about the Irish Clock?
Is it up for sale?
Steve and Mali packing it in?

Yes it is for sale. I was talking to Steve in early April and it was on the market then. Assumed it had been on the market for a couple of months back then. I cannot remember the asking price but thought at the time, a little on the high side. But judging by the position of the business and the steady trade, not to mention their glowing reputation for quality food and friendly service, the price is probably quite reasonable.

They always, without fail, get my business on every trip to Udon.

Maybe some enterprising person could do something similar with the Full Moon, as in quality food and friendly service.

Or just buy the Irish Clock. :guiness:

Actually I think from memory it was Bt2million. I was told that it cost about Bt7million to build originally, so this price is most likely to take over the lease. Certainly this is one of the finer establishments in Udon and anyone with an ounce of Business sense should be able to make a living from it. Sorry I've never been to the Full Moon.

Regarding the purchase price of the Irish Clock.

I'm a part-time visitor to Udon and was there at the opening of the Irish Clock. Certainly I remember the opening day, the free drinks and a tour of the upper level rooms.

I was staying a few weeks at the City Lodge which at that time was being well managed by Andy, Moss and the cashier Salim. Don't recall any other falang bars on the street. The adjacent Top Mansion and The City Lodge at the end of the soi were the only nearby falang-oriented competition to The Irish Clock.

What I remember was a response to the common question, what did it cost to build? One supposedly in-the-know local advised that it cost $100,000US to purchase and refurbish. My guess was that this did not include whatever items were carried in to furnish and stock the hotel. This number likely didn't include lawyers, paper shufflers or other dead wood that had to be paid.
