<p>Visitors can visit Laos by themselves. For those who prefer convenience, there are licensed companies offering a tour service. </p>
<p>The immigration checkpoint at the Thai – Lao Friendship Bridge is open daily during 06.00 – 22.00 hrs. </p>
<h3> Travel Documents</h3>
<p><strong>Foreigners (ชาวต่างชาติ)</strong> must have a passport and visa. A visa application can be submitted to the Embassy of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic in Thailand at 520/1-3 Soi Ramkhamhaeng 39, Wang Thong Lang, Bang Kapi, Bangkok, Tel. 0 2539 6667, or the Consulate-General of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Khon Kaen, at 18/1-3 Phothi Sathit Road, Ban Non Than, Tambon Nai Muang, Amphur Muang, Khon Kaen, Tel. 0 4322 1861, 0 4322 3688. This must be done at least 3 official days in advance of travel, or contact a tour company for the service. A period of 30 days will be allowed for a stay in Laos. Otherwise, contact the immigration checkpoint in Laos for a visa-on arrival, allowing a period of 15 days. </p>
<p>To bring a car in and out of the country, a document is required with a fee as imposed. Contact a tour company in Nong Khai for the service. </p>
