Can anyone recommend a good place to stay in Nong Khai for friends visiting the Province?

I would have to recommend the Pantawee hotel:

Nice enough rooms and you even get a pc and dvd player in your room, just incase you need them .

I agree the Pantawee is a nice place. Clean, centre of town and has nice food. Paid 700baht for a room with Aircon, PC, TV.

At the end of a long day i like to sit down and relax without a shrieking katoey putting on a show.I like Mutmee for the peace and quiet.

Accomodation in Nong Khai

PostAuthor: StevieC » August 4, 2005, 9:16 pm

Greetings from not so sunny Scotland.
I agree, I have stayed in the Pantawee hotel Nong Khai many times. you can get a good room for about 450 Baht. Beware the restaurant though, from past experience, they are not very good at western food. The Thai food is ok. Beer is fairly cheap as well and it is open 24 hours. Not sure if that is a good thing or not.

was just up their checking out options, mutmee, pantawee, and prajak bungalows, just around the corner form pantawee, my bud went with prajack and i have to agree. larger, lighter room, 450 baht, cable, ac, actually 2 rooms, plus private bath w/hw. wise choice. on the 2 way street, just before you turn toward river to go to pantawee.

prajak sounds like good value for the money and in the centre of town too.

Somewhere decent like Prajak is a good thing as there was little competition in the past and so Mutmee saw no need to do a needed renovation or two.Still love Mutmee but needs some work doing and the lack of good alternatives may have made them lazy in the past.

I see there is a guest house that has been up for sale for some time in Nong Khai on the FBI real estate website.
