Just want to wish all you down under guys a happy Australia national day Monday January 26, 2009.

Was hoping there might be a couple of get togethers around town but I haven't seen or heard of anything.

Maybe it's a secret.

In any case, have a great day all you nice Ozzie guys. \:D/

You got no hope mate, the latest stats say 70% of Immigrants are still from the U.K. Personally I'd like to keep it that way :D

Bit inconsistent here Aa.

After all, Brits and Yanks make up the vast majority of Australia's "illegals"

* Numbers of People Estimated as Illegally Overstaying Visa's as Compared to Unauthorised Arrivals. (These figures are based on DIMIA statistics as at30 June 2003)
o Illegal Overstayers: 59,800 (as of July 2003, 20% of all overstayers came from either the UK or the US)
o Unauthorised Arrivals: 1,277 people arrived on seven boats for the year ending June 2002 (ie., approx 2% of Illegal Overstayers !!!)

Ahh but they entered the country legally, and these stats are 6 years old, hardly consistent :D

Ahh! but I deliberately used 6 year old stats because that was about the time the arrival of "boat people" peaked in Oz. So even at its peak, the "illegal" arrivers were grossly outnumbered by the "illegal" overstayers :D

It is not a coincidence that they are celebrating Chinese New Year and Australia Day the same day - it is a conspiracy. Sydney suburbs are changing their names too.......eg Cherrybrook is now Chinabrook, and Chatswood is now Chatswoo. We'd better shut the back door as well as the front door! Brits & Yanks always welcome (compatible weapons systems)

So to keep your conspiracy complete, they will need to change Australia Day to February 14 next year, to coincide with 2010 Chinese New Year (and Feb 3 in 2011 etc etc).

And just to add to the conspiracy, is this what Mick Dodson (Oz of the Year) was really talking about when he suggested Australia have a "conversation" about the most appropriate date to celebrate Australia Day? :D :D

I would suggest that Mick Dodson (a desendent of an Irish immigrant) was just taking the oportunity to pick a fight ! Aboriginal indeed more like "gimme da free money brudda"
